It's been a sad train wreck to watch. They started the renovation on our pool this week. Originally late March was the estimate.
I bought into the hype and have have been sadly entertained by the “experts” banter. Just 2 more weeks they kept saying…making excuses, can-kicking, backtracking, “I did not say that date” “didn't mean that” blah blah….
had 1 solid cold and snowy week. That's the new Nino.
Spring is right around the corner… or is it already here today?
.
Spring arrived the last week of January.
I dont even care that it barely snowed; that is normal here. But, the lack of any storms in February is head -scratching. We're not even officially out of the drought.

Unequivocally, I can say this has been the most useless Nino of my life. Almost wall to wall warmth and barely even avg precip. Nearly halfway through Feb and I have .02". This has been an absolute disaster.

Have you ever tried weed? It's a beautiful day. Warm AF and puke worthy, but it's beautiful.
Puke warm at 67. I hope to get a couple miles on my hiking trail before dark. Trails are beautiful right now. Nice a dry.
I invoke my 5th Amendent rights. Lol. Nice weather doesn't do me any good on a workday.

Looks like the epic pattern is on life support. I'm shocked that a day 16 pattern in a disastrous winter fails to materialize.

Another day with the AC cranking in the car and everyone walking about the neighborhood in shorts. In fact the neighbor kid is outside washing the family SUV in shorts and tank top. Car thermometer was 69F on the way back from the gym. Another run at 70F.
Sweet pattern. Epic.

Tornadoes in the upper Midwest are there any old sayings about that and snow in the east 2 weeks later?
Yes. That it doesn't happen.

WTAF - second time in two weeks I have pulled small, very live, very hopeful tick off my person. It is early effin' February. This is a terrible sign for the spring. Not been near cold enough to help even a little with cutting back on insects.
Epic tick-killing pattern is coming. Only 240hrs away. Hold on!

The sad thing is, ultra favorable periods are the only ones producing.. This will be our 3rd round of strong -NAO. Anything without a -NAO/+PNA in place may finish the year "0".
And they've barely produced anything.

So when does the 2010 pattern kick in again? By this time in 2010 I had over 50” of snow. This year I’ve had three glorified cartoppers and a week’s worth of cold.
March is going to be special. It's ripe. The pattern looks amazing. All we'll need is -25F departures, heavy rates, and nocturnal storms.
And if not, This amazing pattern has legs well into April.

Lord….you already have ppl canceling next winter based on historical trends when ppl can’t even get this winter right based on historical trends. Take the seasonal approach and hold off on evaluating next winter until ya know…..closer to next winter.
Yeah, let's worry about this nearly snowless winter before worrying about next year's.

Takeaway the warm days and January was really cold
Take away all the losses, interceptions, and incompletions and Dak Prescott is a great QB.

Hey it was a great weekend of spring skiing out at Wisp! 50 degrees, blue skies and no lines!
Then they were all at the Mountain Park. Snow tubing was completely packed yesterday. Completely.

Why? He said it seemed like a can-kick in the LR...and to me it isn't. Feels like a perception as folks are understandably antsy. I just never saw the 14th as a big window but after based on the discussion.
See above. It has most definitely been kicked. At one point we were talking about the 5th as being the start of trackable threats. A week later and we're still posting 384 hr maps.
And besides, this is the panic room.

There is no can-kick. What's mid February? Er...the 15th? Lol If I were you I'd follow what the most knowledgeable poster like CAPE & PSU , Brooklynwx are saying...(and you KNOW PSU would say something if things weren't looking as great, lol). But all of them have been saying...PATIENCE. Most of the tastiest maps have been dated around PD weekend at the earliest. There's also been discussion about the 20-23rd. That is a long ways away...so any "can kick" as of now is more a result of impatient perception than reality.
Have you tried taking a day off of this board?
You deserve a weenie for that.
