Holidays and complex blended family add to my stress and dislike of Dec. lol
As empty nesters now. my wife and I have already decide we are going to book a warm sunny vacation in early December this year.
So, you're vacationing in stephens city. Let me know if you need any recommendations.

The absolute worst is the March wind. And the warm days with bare trees and no shade. I may dislike spring even more than summer.

Where was that?
All I got was a flash freeze where I couldn’t even open my car door until I spent 20 minutes melting it with hot water.
This Nino winter gave me 12 days worth of sledding and snowman-making days with my daughter. Had the time of our lives, and we didn’t even have to travel to see snow.
Cue the Kevin shark tank meme…
I was living in NW Frederick Co (VA). About 12 miles NW of winchester. Different climate out there than here.

That Modoki Nina gave me a White Christmas and a 2F afternoon high on Dec 23. I'd take that and run over this POS nino winter.
Granted, that was not in stephens city. There is no pattern, no storm that could produce snow and cold here. A Polar Vortex spinning directly over winchester wouldn't even get it below freezing here.

I have no memory of that one out here. It may have been too early, but more likely we got fringed; a notable storm should've imprinted my memory. The one in October later that year sure did.

This would've been a nice winter weekend if we'd have gotten forecast amounts of snow. It was cloudy enough yesterday that patches of our 1/2" mulch-topper survived the day, and full snow cover would've really bottomed out the temps last night.

There is another window in Mid to late March.
Its coming guys. Epic pattern change. Just need patience.
Good things come to those who wait.
....like 46F rain.

That's it. I just sold my snow thrower. Used once since the 2016 storm (and that was at my old place in cross junction). Oil drained and replaced yearly, paid to move twice...all just to sit in my garage and collect dust. Literally looks as good as the day I bought it. It would've never gotten used again in stephens city, unless maybe to cleanup future sandstorms.

Without blocking we are done in March. Maybe something transient comes along. But generally I think winter is probably over. Couldnt even get to climo in a Nino with a few perfectly tracked storms. Times they are a changing folks.
I couldn't even get to double digits.

Jan 6 - .5”
Jan 12 - 3.0”
Jan 19 - 4.0”
Feb 13- 1” (trash slush)
Feb 17 - .5" (mulch topper, complete bust storm garbage)
total - 9.0”
(absolute trash winter, rotten garbage)

For me 2018 went from a D- to a solid B when I got a 16” snowstorm on March 20-21. Keep in mind I totally missed that coastal bomb in January that year.
Some of us missed both.

Complete bust here. Not even an inch. Snow came in heavy for about 30 min and then petered out. Not a flake on any hard surface. Forecast for 4 to 8. Major disappointment.

The best part of this storm was the .36" last night and 1.29" today. I did not realize we got that much rain. 1.65". Wow. Very nice.

2012-2013
2016-2017
2019-2020
March 2013 I got 10" storm.
Not much difference here from 2020.
Very little difference IMO in a winter with 8" of snow and near constant warmth and a 1" winter. They both suck.

Meh...we already hit 80 in late January. 60s will be chilly.
That's exactly my thought. A +10F anomaly is nothing anymore. Normal day.

With a +QBO 90% likely, no less. That with Stronger La Nina favors +AO conditions, and I'm just saying the last time we had that happen it hit 80 degrees in January.. that's kind of a baseline, although of course it could get cooler/colder at times.
It hit 80 this January too, so...

You never heard of The Panic Room?
But seriously, extrapolating out, how long til we have the climo of the Everglades? At least pythons are something to look forward to.
Don't forget the alligators (not crocodiles!)
Let's get the jump and start a capture / removal / eradication service now. We'll be rich.
