  1. Then reschedule your trip for Dec 24, please.
  2. Yes, like the rest of the region. But less.
  3. 8/1 .50" 8/2 .15" 8/3 3.10" 8/5 .10" 8/6 T 8/7 T 8/8 .25" 8/11 T 8/12 .10" 8/13 .05" Total: 4.20"
  4. Nowhere yet. Not going to move until my wife returns to work, which likely wont be until next fall. Stuck in desert hell until then, at least. But, I can dream. And to think I turned down the chance to relocate to western MD 2 years ago.... and was promptly rewarded with back-to-back 3" winters for my stupidity.
  5. Certainly, it's been wetter than normal years here, but 2 miles east of Stephen's city is a whole 'nother world from here, especially during convection season. Besides, winchester would probably finish 10" above normal. The point is not the absolute; it's the relative.
  6. Oh, I know. Counting the days......
  7. Ha. Not even a sprinkle this time. Slid right to my north before it crossed to the east. Poured, albeit only for 5 minutes, at my job just 4 miles away. Storms literally steer themselves around my yard.
  8. Another flash flood watch. Another day of seeing and hearing storms just to my west for hours. How much is anyone willing to wager it doesn't result in another day of reporting sprinkles that never wet the ground?
  9. You and me. All is right with the world again.
  10. All that complex of showers and storms and I got 1 minute's worth of rain and a 15 minutes of drizzle. Barely .10".
  11. There is a very good chance I receive no measurable at all for this whole advertised period. East of the blue ridge will get theirs by monday.
  12. Got sprinkled on for 2 hours yesterday while storms missed to my south, north, and west. Could never even wet the ground.
  13. Picked up quick .25" from a shower.
  14. Back to the usual of t-storms hitting all around me, but not over me. I've been missed about half-a-dozen times in the last 2 days, each time with a few sprinkles that didn't wet the ground. Today alone 2 good storms nailed Winchester, the last of which missed me by several hundred yards and one at mid-day which gave close to .75" at my work, less than 4 miles north of MBY. Not too concerned; my yard is still drying out from Friday, and at least I got to mow yesterday. 8/1 .50" 8/2 .15" 8/3 3.10" 8/5 .10" 8/6 T 8/7 T
  15. Sick of this humidity. Today is pure grossness. 3.85" for August. Need to get the grass mowed; yesterday's brief pop-up as I was headed out to mow ruined that plan, hoping for better luck today. 8/1 .50" 8/2 .15" 8/3 3.10" 8/5 .10"
  16. Dry October and November sounds perfect for hiking season. Bring it. After that, bring the moisture in shovel-fulls.
  17. Rain has finally move out. Final tally 3.1". Probably the best single event IMBY in the 8 years I've lived here (well, except for Sandy). Think I got 4" in a day back in May 2011 (my basement flooded when the sump pump switch got stuck), but it was from several storms spread out from morning to late afternoon. I just got a month's worth of rain in 4 hours.
  18. Ha. They finally got it right. Actually a flood warning here now.
  19. It's amazing how hit and miss these rains are.
  20. My sump is running every 30 seconds now. Rain continues. Gotta be pushing 3" by now. * just checked the gage. 3" on the dot. Moderate rain continues.
  21. Not this time. It's the real deal. 2.25 after that last heavy batch. Second one got us flush. Poured for 1/2 hour. First heavy batch lasted about 15 min, with moderate in between. Just light rain now, but it was awesome during the second batch. Kids went out and played in the deluge running down the curb. Water running everywhere. Sump pump running almost every minute. This one was terrific.
