Just went out and measured 9 to 10 inches at various spots outside here in northern Otsego County.
I heard sleet when I briefly woke around 0400. We just went back over to heavy snow so we lost 3 or 4 hours of accumulating snow to sleet.
It's all good by me.....we are cross country skiers and now we have a bulletproof base that should take us into March and beyond.
Stowe seems crazy expensive for that kind of experience.
I don't know the areas out toward Boston.
In upstate NY we have Royal Mountain and other local places that offer great beginner lessons and packages at very reasonable prices.
What's happening up on Tug now?
Thinking of skiing BREIA tomorrow......near Boonville.
Point and click not calling for much up there but radar sure looks impressive.
Any intel from up there? Thanks.
Central Otsego County: Precip started around 0700, mix of sleet and freezing rain, temp 31F.
Now at 32F, and the small amount of ice accretion we had is liquifying.
Still having spotty light rain showers.
Left my home at 1650 feet, light to moderate snow falling, ground coated.
In the valley below, 1200 feet, very light snow, hardly anything on the ground.
The dry air is eating it up.
Crazy long day for me at work so I was out shoveling in the dark at 0515 this morning, I think there was 3 inches new since last evening.
Not sure what our storm total will be.
I'm just outside town, on a hill about 400 feet above you in the village.
I just shoveled lead density snow. Anywhere from wet spots to about 4 inches depending on where you walk in the driveway.
Unbelievable how much that snow weighs.
