I have a good cloud deck over me now in west knox so maybe we will not get much heating if that holds. There is a lot of retuns in north Alabama more than I thought we would be seeing. Maybe it will not take long for the returns to reach the ground.

I must admit I do not have a lot of meteorological knowledge but have observed the weather since I was a small child. Seen setups like this many times. With the due west component sometimes cold air can get traped in the valley. The other thing that can happen is high clouds come in and allow the sun to heat the low levels and then the cloud deck moves in and traps the heat which evaporative cooling can not over come. Living in the vally has so many things that can effect our chances for snow. Just have to wait and see what happens,

MRX chopped my totals in half. This is usually good
.Funny you should say that. Their computer generated forcast does crazy things. My forcast for west knox has increased.
TodayA chance of rain before 1pm, then rain and snow between 1pm and 3pm, then snow after 3pm. High near 37. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. They added an inch possibe on my night time forcast which had nothing before.- 1

What is perplexing to me is the snowfall amounts are near identical to when MRX issued a winter storm warning with the last system, yet with the colder temps the travel impacts from this should be worse. Not sure what their reasoning is on that
I don’t belive there is any reasoning behind it. It is most likely who is on the shift at the time and coordination with the other offices.

I am trying to see this northern trend but the models seem rather steady just a small jog north and west. What am I missing? They have seemed fairly steady with their depection of the snow rain line as far as I can see help me understand what you are seeing.

Setting my expectations at 0 in maryville
I did a lot better when I was a kid and just woke up in the morning to a surprise. I was a kid in the late 60’s through the mid 70’s and we had a lot of surprises then.

North trends always make me nervous. Living in West Knox this often puts us out of the game. There is still a long way to go.

We went from straight rain to big fat flakes as I was watching it just turned on.

Have some flakes falling just now.

It just keeps doing the head fake here in Knoxville. One minute I think the snow line is moving off the plateau then it seems to kick back. It has creeped closer again but…..

Changeover appears to be knocking on the door of the I75 corridor.
I think you are right but I have been thinking that for a couple of hours.

Probably still a couple hrs from any switching. Hrrr has me switching between 3-4am going to try my best to get a couple hours of restless sleep before haha
I noticed some snow pings in the moutains east of knox so it is definitely cooling down upstairs.

CC transition line remains stalled out along a line from Scottsboro, AL to Dunlap. Temperatures even on the plateau east of there are above freezing, but barely. The Sequatchie valley is acting as a very effective snow shield ATM.
It seems like the whole system has slowed down. In knoxville the temp has fallen from 47 to 41 at my house the last 40 min so some progress is taking place here.

That low seems to really be tightening up and temps are starting to fall in the valley.

Because of the shape and the fact a full body scan didn’t show anything else, the Doctor is 95% sure it’s not cancer. Yes the tumor caused her seizure from the pressure. The mass is egg shaped but flat and lays between her skull and brain. It’s a little bigger than a softball but it is flat and doesn’t go into her brain. Surgery is July 15th and please pray for us. The doctors feel really good about a full recovery but they won’t know everything until they get in there.
.
Will pray right now for your wife. Glad to hear it seems its not cancer and is not into the brain.

This has been a Middle and West TN year. They sure were in line for it because of all the bad winters of late. The Eastern Valley has had a lot of close calls and a very fun White Christmas so I count this year as a win. I am ready for spring and warm weather. Just bought a new bass boat and ready to get out on the water.

Got a quick burst of snow that covered the grass and roads and just as quickly it turned to rain. Good night all and bring on Spring.

Still nothing falling in the Cedar Bluff area of Knox. We have a steady north east wind coming down the valley. This is usually a good thing.
