  1. My daughter works for a ski school outside of Ogden, Utah, and they have not had enough snow to open any slope that does not have man-made snow machines. She has kept her job there this year because it is part-time teaching little ones how to ski. She is a nurse in Ogden. They have never seen so little snow, is how she frames this winter. She said they may have had worse, but not by anyone that she has talked with.
  2. Back in the 70’s I was in high school and would have loved that scene . Today I am 63 and it takes too long a duration and too low of temperatures to get that result. I like my snow while it is falling then give it 2 days of a hard freeze and then I am ready for a break in the 60s.
  3. Looks like heavy returns in Kentucky. I would think it is ripping under them.
  4. I just went out and took a walk around my block. The Roads are mostly wet but are starting to get white on the slopes that are shaded from the sun. It is coming down the hardest of the night, but I still don't think we are going to have road problems unless it does what it is doing now for about 2 to 3 more hours.
  5. We have a light dusting on the grass and roofs. There are a few places in my driveway that have turned white, but the roads are still looking uncovered. We now have some bigger flakes the largest of the night, but I do not think the roads are going to be a problem unless it does this for a few more hours.
  6. My Quick burst of snow has now turned into a light ice mist with no real flakes anymore. it looks like there is a band headed our way if it does not fall apart.
  7. Just noticed it was snowing in West Knoxville very very lightly.
  8. Man you did great. I ended up with around 5 inches we were just on the edge or the better rates. You were right in the heart.
  9. Yeah, it really started dumping, but I think we are transitioning to the more NW flow part of the storm.
  10. What is it 28 degrees for the freezing point of salt water? I think that right or very close.
  11. My official measurement for Cedar Bluff Area as of 9AM Yard, 4" Sidewalk that was exposed to the sun 2" and a half. Sidewalk that never gets any sun, 4" and a half.
  12. Here at my home, we had much the same. The only difference was at around 2 o'clock last night we had a finger of snow that came through with huge thick flakes. It lasted for over an hour and laid down around an inch and a half. It was the largest flakes I have seen since my childhood, We have around 4 inches here.
  13. I think I have 4 inches here at my location in the Grass. I woke up at around 2 o'clock and it was snowing the hardest I have seen in terms of flake size, at least since I can remember. Now was it in terms of water content no, but the flakes were huge. If we get more during the day it will bring us over the 4-inch mark.
  14. If you are wondering if there is really mixture there, no there is not. I am not sure how the tech is supposed to work and determine what is falling, but it is not real accurate.
  15. As I was walking I heard 2 explosions I assume it was transformers but the snow is so fluffy and dry it seems strange that that would cause a transformer to blow. I also walked out to a main road that had been treated, and I could not tell a difference between it and the ones in our neighborhood.
  16. Woke up and took a walk. We had huge half-dollar flakes and 3-4 inches on the ground. It is still ripping, but the flakes are smaller. That happened fast.
  17. Tried to go to sleep but just couldn't. I have been right in this huge hole in the radar that runs right down the middle of Knox County. I am slap in the middle of the valley. I keep thinking those bans are going to rotate around, but they seem to just pulse on and off. Hoping one will just pulse up over me.
  18. We are still just getting non radar light snow and I can not sleep Who are you kidding. I am really wanting this to fill in and see snow at these temps and Ratios.
  19. Yep it is time to try and go to sleep we have stopped here with the snow. Hopefully we will wake up to some big rates.
  20. Here's hoping for the fill in. Glad you shared, that gives me some hope. Yes, we do live close.
  21. Yeah, I am in the 3 to 4 according to NWS, but it is close. I was hoping for more, but I would love to get that. I know you have had it rough for a while as well, hope we both score tonight.
  22. a Now that I look at it again it looks like it is drying up to the West. The hope is that the returns in and near Maryville will need to fill in or we will be done for the evening. They are backing up I just don't know it they will make it back to us or not.
