  1. I'll go with: '78 Rocktober Irene's flooding 1993
  2. Congrats. We picked up all of .04". Chilly in the house this morning.
  3. Maybe BOX should replace their hurricane icon with a picture of James, all decked out in his Patriot's gear, sitting in front of blank tv screen.
  4. LOL. Comcast will have to dig deep to get the Cape up and running.
  5. Many of us would like an early ET transition to allow more people to enjoy the breeze and rain.
  6. Yeah. My daughter goes to school in Marion, MA. I wonder what their protocol is for that.
  7. And RI/SE MA and DE ME make the cone. Congrats.
  8. I was a sophomore in college--enjoyed a day of cancelled classes.
  9. Belle for me. Maybe the UK can be reliable this winter. I'll toss that unless others start joining in. It may not be a huge miss, but I'd certainly lean toward that at this point than anything significant--even for James.
  10. They were renting that one, IIRC. But they bought a fixer-upper in Park Slope about 30-years ago. I think they'll do okay when they sell/move in a couple years when they retire. $$$
  11. Is that Cobble Hill in Brooklyn? My sister lived there for many years at 341 Clinton (?) Ave. No idea why I can remember that address!
  12. Agreed. I think the only thing we'll experience up here is Steve posting pictures of some unremarkable swells from Misquamicut.
  13. For the next few days, Dorian should experience some fluctuations in intensity, and in addition to eyewall replacement cyclone, the interaction with the northwestern Bahamas should weaken the hurricane slightly. After 3 days, as Dorian moves northward along or offshore of southeast United States coast, the shear is forecast to increase, resulting in a more distinct gradual weakening.
  14. Does anyone know when Levi updates his Tropical Tidbits discussion? With the track steadily inching eastward, I'm becoming mildly interested.
  15. What a hoot if this went from being a likely FL landfall to Newfoundland one instead. Just a minor miss.
  16. I'm planning to overseed this weekend. To be sure I have the steps right.... 1) mow today a low setting (bagging not mulching) 2) seed/starter 3) do I need to rake for overseeding? Can' really see what's taking place with existing grass. 4) water 5) for overseeding, how long do you wait before you mow again? Thanks for confirming/redirecting any of the steps above.
  17. Thanks. How do you approach it? Cut low, rake/seed/fertllize and just not mow for the next few weeks (with watering of course)?
  18. When do folks seed in the fall? I'm thinking September 1 will allow for 6 weeks before anything more than a surprising frost comes in.
  19. Wow. I would tend to be with the over-watered crowd. These don't need to be watered daily--perhaps every 2-3 days after transplant. However, the fact that this all happened in 3 days sounds like something more dire. Like you spilled some Round up on it.
  20. We did the same. I think we got a Red Sunset, but it might be an October Glory--forgot what we went with. I do know we got it at about 15', I'm eager for it to get another 5-8 to better block the neighbors. I guess that'll be 2-4 years of growing.
