Had a flash of lightning/crack of thunder around 9:00pm last night. That's the most exciting part of the event so far.

Pretty notable how long the duration of potentially strong winds are around here. The LLJ almost pivots rather than sweeping through, so it's nearly all day the 18z HRRR is forecasting 45+ knots at PWM.
Wish I were at Pit2

We don’t get solid airmasses in here until early January with this pattern progression. We can have some workable ones later this month though…interior prob favored of course. But they could also be cutters too. I’d keep expectations fairly low for now but right now, I’d have higher expectations for the first half of January.
If one doesn't have higher expectations for winter weather in the first two weeks of January, we'd really be in trouble.

I don’t see how we tickle 60 here but we’re prepared if it does.
A better shot of 60* than 60mph

HRRR is pretty interesting in the 15z-18z time frame, especially southwest towards NYC/NJ. Could see some strong-to-severe thunderstorms if any convection can develop.
Better severe in the second half of December than between May-July. Claslsic.

The difference between a windy rain storm thread and a modest snowstorm thread is about 50 pages of posts.

southeast wind 21 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph.
Not too shabby. With no leaves, like a strong arctic front.....except it'll be 60*.

12/10 is a torch. It’s just a backside flip to snow on the western slopes with enough CAA making it in in time.
Remind me.......where does this rank on the "fraud" list?
