  1. 20% chance of heavy snow, that includes the blue ridge and smokies.
  2. Fortunately for us...a 30 minute drive and we can see a foot of snow!
  3. Happened to me. Furman was in the football playoffs. Jeav6 snow started falling...was a near blizzard at times. 6” fell during the game. Cherrydale is less than 2 miles from Furman, same elevation. Not even a trace.
  4. Just as I predicted. Temps have hit 36 in Greenville (near Haywood Mall) and it is snowing.
  5. Moderate Sleet in Greenville near I/85 - I/385 interchange
  6. Temp in Greenville, SC has dropped 3 degrees in the last hour. Need to get to about 36 to see snow. At least 36 is the magic number so far for other locations. Currently 38 where I sit.
  7. Report Type one thing we can all do to help fine tune the National Weather Services forecast is to report current conditions. Click on the link from your smartphone, the app is easy to use.
  8. Webcams Really snowing good at the Smokey Mtn location and Sapphire Valley.
  9. See above and know why his doesn’t do weather anymore! LOL
  10. Tonight is just a terrible look for the upstate. Cold rain or ice. Yuck both
  11. I'm assuming a youth in HS. Fantastic to see youth interested in weather. Keep up the great work, and hopefully others at your school are interested. One of my fondest memories from HS 78-81 was a young boy with special needs that memorized the weather every day. There are lots of excellent weather sources here...follow your dreams. Hope you make a LOT of people happy this weekend! sorry for the banter, just wanted to encourage a student!
  12. Too bad this winter storm can’t be named “Miller”!
  13. The latest discussion from the GSP NWS...they are still being extremely cautious.
  14. You really need to consider moving along or north of 85. 6 miles short is just too far!
  15. Uh, you missed the point. It's all about the placement of the High. Yes, "damming is when the cold air is funneled along the eastern slopes of the mountains. That is a very good thing. The poster is correct though...if the high is too far north and west, the cold air has to go over the mountains....not funneled down the eastern slope.
  16. for someone who has spent my entire life in Upstate, SC....it's all about that H. Is it going to be strong enough to funnel cold air on the East side of the mountains to our area? It is impossible for people who have never lived here...to understand how much those mountains affect our weather.
  17. You will be tracking the next storm we have...and you'll be having more meltdowns before, during and after the storm. It's you! LOL
  18. Have you seen Lake Hartwell lately? That lake is getting dangerously low.
