    I think Tip's question also has the origination portion to it. Sandy for example originated down there and tracked due north.

    Boy....something really brewing for Day 9. Fantasy-land GFS has had this for a week now. While the Euro doesn't inject a Cat 4 into the system, it does have an F'ng monster racing up the coast.

    Removing any potential tropical system from the Caribbean from the equation, that trough as modeled for day 10 could be fun. Should create a strong storm system in itself.

    It's too bad the longwave trough depicted on the GFS isn't like 5-10 degrees to the east. Would definitely have a shot at something wintry with a trough axis further east.

    GFS says dry air wins out during day Monday. Adjust snow totals appropriately.

    This is driving me nuts as I need to send staff out into the field to sample when it rains, but I'm so up in the air about Monday. I'm leaning towards the HP winning, but not sure.
