Hi Guys,  I'm on a business trip in Longmont, CO this week, geeze, went from 70 degrees to 18 in a 3 hour flight yesterday!!!  Never thought I'd see the worst winter weather of the 2019-20 season in October, you won't believe the low temp records their logging here in the Denver area (the deep snow is nothing to them).  I-70 is closed just east of here, they got like a foot and a half in these two storms.  Only about 7-8" here in Longmont, but still coming down!  I'll have some pics when I get home.   Forgot to mention they're expecting a possible all time record low for Oct. Thurs morning, -2 is the record and might hit -4 at DEN.

Fellow Bellbrookian....my daughter lives in Denver. She's a chip off the old block (Head) and loves winter weather. She is chagrined because she is on a business trip to Vegas and missing the fun. She is scheduled to return today though. If they get the record low tonight....it will be another landmark for them. A couple weeks back they hit 9 degrees...which was the earliest single digit low in the city's recorded weather history. Told her she needs to ship some of that cold and snow east on the jet stream.

  2. I am waving the white towel. We have a pool and lots of trees. I have pumped water off the pool cover four times this winter....and lost count of how many times I've fished leaves off the top. Now the yard is a war zone of limbs and twigs....and the pool has more leaves in it than water......ready for a long spate of calm, sunny....warm spring days. Time to look for a condo in Marquette, Michigan. I'll have to find a new wife though....mine would never go. :weep::weep:

  3. I have followed weather all my life, even as a kid, and winter and snow have been one of my top passions.

I will hit 70 later this year and have discovered at least one immutable truth. Anticipating snow season and your favorite baseball team's season have one thing in common....a lot of hope...followed by mostly heartbreak!

euro now has our coldest temps coming in only at around -3 or 4.   zzzzzzzzzzzz   what an absolute overhyped joke this is turning out to be, this may not even end up as cold as the period we had a week or so ago.

But...."We'll always have Paris".....I mean the Euro run from a week and a half ago showing 27 inches of snow on the ground and minus -20's. Digital winter...the only kind we ever get in Ohio!

Hardest I've ever seen it snow in Ohio. Full blizzard

Ditto here in Bellbrook. Woke up at about 12:30 and looked out side and have never seen such ferocity of snow fall and wind. The entire outdoors was white....no need to even turn on an outdoor light. We ended up with about 5 or 6 inches here....wind blown so hard to tell. Started shoveling at 6:15 and it was 15 degrees. Finished at 7:30 and it had dropped to 7. In retrospect....if yesterday's .92 inches of rain would have been snow....we would have been dead on with the original model runs showing a foot and a half. Oh well....with the pattern we are in....no doubt more chances to come. The remnants of last weekend's ten inches absorbed the rain with the temperature never getting above 33 yesterday. It is solid ice under the latest snow. The snow/ice cover should last into March....rare territory for southern Ohio indeed.

  6. We're all rain in Bellbrook.....southeast of Dayton and about 15 miles south of I-70.....not seen a flake. We were epicenter of the snow last weekend with almost a foot...so getting shafted on this one doesn't feel so bad. Not expecting more than 3 or 4 tonight in the defo...if it shows up. Set the bar low.....I say. Maybe the trailer on the cold front later next week will be kinder to us. Need some solid white for the big arctic outbreak next weekend....if it still happens.

  7. Our local CBS affiliate....WHIO....is really getting precise. Dividing Montgomery County. Northern 3/4 get 6-10 of all snow......the southern 1/4 get 4-6 with taint. I ride the line.....or is that walk the line as Johnny Cash sang?

    According to the euro:

on day 10 Columbus has 27" of snow on the ground and minus teen air temps

The severe arctic out break for this time period has been teased by some models for over a week now. This run of the Euro would rival the great arctic outbreaks of all time for much of the nation......dare I even say....February 1899? Just incredible.....

anyone else noticing a trend for a more sw to ne trajectory of the snow shield vs. w to e?

Yes....I think the noon sniffings by the models want to ramp (phase) the storm up....but at this point it hits the 5.7 billion dollar border steel fence we quickly erected south of the Ohio River....and is diverted away from Ohio.

  10. The GEFS at noon is nearly identical in Central Kentucky in its progression and ends up b- lining it for West Virginia. This part is definitely north of earlier runs which had it sinking ESE somewhat. Most likely this just means the ensemble members with a suppressed look are vanishing. Still if that ensemble run happens we should be in pretty good shape....at least if that would end up the actual track.

  11. ....oh and beyond this weekend on the Euro....another potential snow beast lurks the middle of next week. Have we slipped into a parallel universe? Its like the alter George Costanza pattern versus our normal winter heartbreak.

  12. Here in Bellbrook.....Southeast Dayton area....we have been pummled by the band from the upper low now for several hours. Up to 10 inches.....and still coming down. What a way to break out of the slump....bring on more!!!!!
