  1. My club championship this weekend. Going to throw in (away?) my $25 and give it a whirl. Since the PGA is on the west coast, I'll still be able to watch. Honestly, I don't mind watching golf without spectators. I really don't miss "In the hole!" after every tee shot.
  2. I listened to some of it on SiriusXM and watched the last few holes up until Koepka put it in the water on 17 or 18. I wish I had seen Thomas hit bridge and make it over.
  3. People in VT do not hate out of staters. Are some people jerks? Yes and you seem to know more than your share. I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience but that’s your experience and not the entire story.
  4. Played in a pro-am at the Country Club of Vermont today. Beautiful course with great views. Played ok in spurts. The greens were fast and very hilly. The wind was pretty strong too. The picture below usually has a great view of Camel’s Hump but the clouds and mist were starting roll through.
  5. More progress tonight after last week’s lesson. Shot a 43 with a disastrous 7 on a par 3. I feel like I am starting hit the ball more consistently. Posture, ball position and shoulder turn have been what I have been keying on. It’s only been a week and 36 holes of actual play so I know I still have a lot to work on but it feels like I’m on the road to real improvement.
  6. Stiff shaft for higher swing speeds. I’ve never had a high enough swing speed to need one. Whenever I’ve hit one the ball goes almost straight right.
  7. Second time out after my initial lesson went much better. Went 44-42 with a dreaded snowman on the first hole. Still some thin shots but started to make much better contact by the end of the round. Still a long way to go and there will be setbacks but I felt like I made some progress today. Not sure if I’ll schedule another lesson for this week or next. Thinking 2 weeks in between to work on stuff might be best.
  8. Had my first lesson with our new pro Wednesday. We worked on posture, shoulder turn and ball placement. Pretty standard stuff. Hit some good shots during our session. Last night I took what I learned to my men's league match and the results were about as expected . Luckily for me, my opponent was a no show so I got a half point for our team despite my horrendous showing. The pro was in my foursome so he tried to be encouraging. I told him I was committed to keep on track until I started to get some form back. It always takes a while to become comfortable with swing changes.
  9. I’ve had a rough season and had quite a few scores I needed to post. I didn’t realize they had changed to immediate updates, plugged them and bam! My handicap jumped 3.5 strokes! It really pointed out how bad I have been playing and it hasn’t been just one issue. Thin shots, fat shots, slices, hooks you name it I’ve struggled with it. I’m going to break down and take some lessons with our new pro or give up the game. One of the other because I can’t keep torturing myself.
  10. Haven’t seen it yet but DeChambeau’s blow up 10 let Tiger make the cut. Roid rage?
  11. Watching it now. Interesting how Jack said he didn’t like playing his best on the first day of a tournament. He said he like to feel like he was getting better each day. Tiger quite often follows that same pattern.
  12. And on the way back too, just for good measure.
  13. I now have to make an emergency call to my therapist after this trigger picture
  14. The thing I love about having a membership is that I can go over anytime I want and hop on. I can ply 3 or 4 holes if that's all I have time for. Of course we aren't a big, busy course like the ones down near you guys but it's a nice perk. The downside is that I don't travel to play nearly as much as I used to and I miss that.
  15. My office mate used one of those on the large plant/small tree he has in our office. Seemed to work well for the month we though we would be out of the office. Not sure how it's going 4 months in.
  16. My priority list 1. Snowmobiling stuff 1. Golf stuff 2. everything else
  17. The first time I went to PGA event tempo was driven home to me. I went to the Greater Hartford Open and was standing behind the 13th tee, close enough to almost grab the club in their backswing. The hole is a par 5 and the steady tempo really stood out. None of the players looked like they were swinging hard and were putting the ball 300+ yards Smooth tempo is so important. Now if I could just follow that mantra consistently.
  18. Me too. I haven't ridden once this year despite the fact that I was given a season cart pass. I don't scoff at riders but I generally prefer walking and there are exceptions. If I'm playing in a tournament and it's slow, I like having the cart. If I'm playing a course I'm unfamiliar with, I like having a cart so I can ride up and take a look at what I'm hitting towards if it's unclear.
  19. The problem wasn't really with the amount of snow, it was with retention. That's my weather fetish. I'll take nickle and dime events all winter long, I just don't want to lose any of it along the way.
  20. Don't bring a SNE jinx up here! We had our own struggle this past winter.
  21. Pretty much the same with me. Reed is the other current guy I don't like. I've never had an issue with Ian Poulter though many don't like him. Back in the day I never had a problem with Nick Faldo and like him as an announcer. I never cared for Vijay Singh either.
