  1. Had ~0.40" today, not a washout but the garden has been well fed.  I'm 4.5+ inches on the month.  It's been higher up north of here.  The water has come at a great time for spring growth this month.

It’s been pretty wet up here after that 10 day dry and hot stretch that was like May 3-13. Another 0.4” this afternoon. Got the majority of flowers and veggies in the ground after that. Could have done it two weeks ago in hindsight but always wary of a late frost.

Had about the same this afternoon in the Stratus.  Garden has been well fed.  I think I'm 4.5+ inches on the month.  It's been even higher up north of here.

Car said 52F arriving home.  East and west slopes of the Spine is low to mid 50s.  It feels fallish.

  3. Nothing like 50s and rain at 1pm on Memorial Day weekend Saturday.  Be glad you aren’t here.

Local stations are 0.30-0.50” water so far.

    Windows and doors slammed shut.

Lower min temps as well as lower dew points sometimes too?

Not if you water religiously and really focus on the area around the Davis station.

The drought in 65-66 was no joke in these parts.  Quabbin set the low bar for water levels way beyond anything we've seen.  A couple years ago it got to the lowest level since 66, but wasn't close to that.

One can only imagine the dire tweets that would be firing if that happened again.

If it’s wet it’s dews and storms with Ull well southwest of us. Humid south flow .. also possible it trends so far west we end up with ridging

Can already envision someone thinking the weekend is fantastic if it’s showery at 69/68 solely because the dew is upper 60s… temp and weather be damned.

    Yeah that’s prolly right.

    still interesting.

For sure.  It’s mind blowing this time of year could snow or be 90F… not likely to snow, but the range of historical obs is probably close to the most impressive of any time of year.

It just occurred to me… 20 years ago on this date in 2002 Worcester had an inch and a half of snow and we had cat paws in Waltham at 38° in a wind swept nor’easter…

Pretty sure that was 2002 and May 22… Or something like that

I thought it was May 18, 2002.  Had like 2.5” in Albany at Hudson River elevation.  Went up to Thatcher Park in west Albany County and it was plowable 6” above 1,000ft.

That is one of the few memorable events my mind remembers like Will .

  9. What a change from a couple hours ago.

Dew point at 5pm was 70F, and now 55F.

    Big time “real feel” change.

Honestly thinking about it, I can’t think of a bigger 15 degree difference in either temp or dew point that can be so noticeable as 70F to 55F dews.  I guess anything near freezing if it changes rain to snow, but as far as a real feel change, that dew difference is huge.

Some decent velocity scans on this storm.

Driving home there’s some pockets of straight line wind damage seen from the interstate on French Hill… right on the “o” in Williston.

That velocity max went right over that area and there was a large tree (looked rotted though) and debris in the breakdown lane but then in the median there were several healthy looking trees uprooted.  All facing ENE in direction.  Fresh branches broken off several other trees as well.

Must’ve had a decent little downdraft move across the interstate from WSW to ENE.

Found 0.33” in the Stratus at home… at least we don’t have to water the garden tonight.  Hasn’t been much watering needed these days.

    What angle are you at?

1.2 degree… it was 2,000ft elevation there.  I mostly use 1.2-2.5… first one for west slopes and then second for east side.  It’s definitely off the deck.
