What an amazing sky tonight! Cold. Calm. Clear. And new moon. Looks like a planetarium out there.

Really coming down here in suffolk! Deck covered and now starting to stick to grass.

Anyone saying definitively what next winter has in store is just dumb. So many were calling for a warm winter this year and it felt like we were living in the arctic for 3 months. We cant even get a forecast right 2 weeks out let alone 9 months...also great winters tend to come in consecutively. So my money would be on another A winter next year.

You guys remember that CRAZY backdoor cold front we had last spring? I cant remember the date, but we dropped like 30 degrees in minutes! It was insanity. I remember going from 82 to like 48 in literally like 15 minutes.

Not even close to 2013 in north central suffolk. Thought this had a chance but fell pretty short. This was a great storm tho.

Do you guys think it'll fill in again over north shore central suffolk? Seems to be all around us at the moment.

Im in sound beach northern suffolk. Looks like 5 inches new snow already and it's coming down very heavily.

Where in suffolk are you? I'm up in sound beach. Was in mount sinai in 2013.. got about 32 inches. Constant lightning coming off the harbor in that death band.

That's what I'm thinking too.. didn't know if that would ever happen again. If it's going to this is as good a chance as any.

Feb 2013 (nemo) for suffolk county. Had 30 inches and constant thundersnow. I compare all storms to that one out here. More intense then 96 for me.

Mother nature does not care about any opinions or what "normally" does or doesnt happen. Or anything that has happened in the past. We have seen so many interesting and unexpected weather events in recent years. Enjoy the ride this could be a big one........or just a windy day.

You missed the storm of a lifetime. I drove home from setauket through port jeff to mt. Sinai. Almost didn't make it. Snowing harder then I've ever seen the rates were incredible. Was passing so many who were stuck on the roads. Barely made it in my jeep. There was thunder snow no joke for like an hour straight on the mt sinai harbor. I measured 33 inches where I was. It was un believable. Also the storm i compare all others to since. We were right on the rain /snow line for hours right before sunset. Once the sun set it was incredible.

Ya. Juno was forecast to be even worse. I remember being let down tho. Got about half of what was forecast. Opposite with Nemo.

Yes Nemo in 2013 was THE storm of all time for those of us in central suffolk county. I was in Mt. Sinai at the time and had constant thunder snow after sunset. The heaviest rates I've ever experienced to this day. Had about 30 inches. Cars abandoned everywhere.

Just had a downpour and pretty good hail here in miller place. Like a nice quick summer storm popped up out of nowhere.
