  1. South Kingstown/Peace Dale here. My shoulders and back will trade you QPF. :-)
  2. Snow started here in coastal Rhode Island just before 10:00 AM. The generator has been run, the birds were fed early, the various shovels are propositioned, 2M/440Mhz handhelds charged, battery for HF ham radio charged. Hopefully everyone's efforts keep the power on but the snow falling. Enjoy the snow but be careful. I forgot to add that it is 11 degrees with a dew point of 7.5 degrees.
  3. You can almost put a pin on my house on the line between 2-4" and 4-7" at the top of Point Judith Pond in South Kingstown, RI.
  4. When I was a Director of Administrative Services for an area school department, winds were a big issue when you had kids waiting at bus stops and a good possibility a school would lose power during the day. You'd rather cancel up front than have an early dismissal, especially with elementary school kids.
  5. My generator is still in the shop. Any power outages in the South Kingstown-Narragansett area are clearly my fault. I do have the Coleman stove and lantern fueled up and a full tank of propane for the grill. I hope that supplicates the weather gods.
  6. To anyone who is superstitious, the pull cable on my generator broke when doing a test start earlier today and my ongoing repair efforts have failed. The odds of losing power in South Kingstown, RI just increased 200%. At least my mother's generator started right up.
  7. Some snow would be nice just so long as it's not enough to complicate getting gasoline for the generator!
  8. We've hit 24" a couple of time here is South Kingstown (between the coast and URI) in the 25+ years I've lived here but it is rare (especially compared to when I lived in Worcester). We usually don't get large accumulations of the high ratio snow here, but I'm hoping that is the case in this storm, especially if I have to shovel my way to the generator.
  9. Two quick dimming of the lights just now. Enjoying power while it lasts.
