  1. It is not radar attenuation. Both radars, TLH and TBW show it. Also noted on IR imagery. It’s clearly the intense convection helping. Other storms have shown some raggedness, but she’s really helping offset this with vigorous convection NW to NE of the center. It was just an observation.
  2. For a strengthening cat 4 like that and a ragged 40% or so of the eyewall, it’s surprising to me it intensified like that. In the following post, I mentioned the intense convection.
  3. It’s like the 60% of the eyewall is extremely intense and just sucking up all the air lol.
  4. I’m still surprised because the eye is not really impressive at all. But she seems to still be strengthening I guess.
  5. Might take out some trees at Augusta. Lets flatten the greens.
  6. If he avoids convection at 45K he'll likely be ok. But dumb move imo.
  7. Anything like that needs to be east of center
  8. Really would like to see that eyewall close though.
  9. Yeah, this storm is pretty much all Eastside.
  10. Gotta say I’m impressed with her. I had my doubts on category four earlier, but it looks like it’s gonna be a low end four at least anyways. Imagine if it started this process six hours earlier.
  11. That band off Tampa looks ripe for spouts and when onshore, tornadoes.
  12. I think they are in for issues with surge.
  13. First off, this isn't even close to those. Secondly, who said bust? Describing the storm issues and why it's struggling is different than saying "This storm won't do shit, Mets and models all suck, what a bust!"
  14. I heard that too. Just not a big fan of extrapolation determining the winds without the help of other tools.
  15. Is the upgrade based on FL winds? Would be nice to get some reports from the surface.
  16. I'd say vis and IR looking markedly better last hour. She's getting her act together imo.
  17. I was wondering as well. John virtually stalled and outflow sort of channeling towards Helene. Might be keeping the mid level dryness hanging around to the SW of Helene a bit longer than it looked two days ago.
