08-09 is one of my favorite seasons. It's not like we had 100+", but for this area I think we ended up near 75" give or take, with a most of that in Dec and Jan. That was a fun season. I still remember the RUC nailing that 2 part Jan event.

That will be welcomed. Even if winter ended early like some typical Ninas...I'll take a snowy December and January.

Yeah I meant just for this local area. I know it was pretty bad up by ORH into srn NH. I hope for my mental health sake, that it's a decent winter.

18-19 was close to normal, I think a hair above with that big early March dump...but yeah it didn't feel like it. Lots of torchy periods. Last year was a true ratter. Early December had some fun, but outside of that...it was pure vomit. Last year as far as snow goes, was the first solid BN season since 11-12 here. That is quite a stretch.

More winter voodoo-casts. I dunno...I'm feeling a meh one...but only because I'm on the regression train. Doesn't have to be a dud, maybe near normal.

Funny thing is that it could be fairly snowy for you. Oranges at 500mb with your location aren't a bad thing. Even here, it was Bengal Tigers and Parakeets at 500mb in December 2007 and we got lit. It would help to have a big confluence area well to our NE...almost like a massive +NAO on roids with the dateline ridging.

I like the warm PAC throwing off analogs Tip. We’ve talked about this now and then. You’ll need more samples like Will said, but I know several energy mets who said they have a hard time using them outside strong ENSO events. It’s almost to even use 30yr normals now since the last 10 years have really been warm. Maybe we cool down at some point.

It was bad especially in the temp department, but locally for snowfall it was near normal. We had two snow events in April that saved it. I know it’s April, but the second snow event was powder...even during the day. This last winter was my first real shit winter since 11-12. 15-16 was pretty bad iirc in nrn MA and into Srn NH relative to normal.

That's usually reserved for the big KU events, but even Gloucester is usually too far east for that. That's more cstl north shore in Essex county like Salem/Peabody. Usually winds aloft start turning east and pumping moisture off the water, while winds near and just inland from the coast are north. 1/2/14 was one that was not a classic KU...but they have wind off of 40+ SSTs into air that was barely above 0F. Absolute fluff bomb for Essex county, especially that area near Boxford.

That was a fun storm despite the mess in the middle. Sure it could have been more, but not common to have WSW amounts that early in the season.

Yeah, I'd love to see 1995 again. Epic month. So many good memories. I think Christmas morning it was like 5F out with a foot OTG. A true Christmas of yore. I'll have to watch Schwoegler's video again for that storm a few days earlier.

Would probably lead to a weaker STJ? Probably not a bad thing. I feel like it's been active recently..although that's anecdotal off the top of my head.
