    On the GEFS you can see the eastern NPAC ridge sharpens up and probably aids in the s/w digging next week, causing a mixed bag/rain. But after that, that is quite the mass of cold air. Sometimes those cutters shake things up a bit.

    I don't have the data in front of me, but my guess is that we had a lot of fast flow in the 80s with lots of +AO/NAO. Hence the lack of biggies (except in some Ninos). Fast times at Ridgemont High.

    Well in any case, after whatever happens next week it’s probably boredom for a bit as things move around in the Pacific. If we do get into a milder look, I’d figure beyond 12/15 is when things turn more wintry. Just my guess. Naturally climo helps too. I’m not a fan of the look first two weeks. With any luck we sneak in a wintry event or two......but I’m just talking about the overall look.
