  1. Best codfish I ate were the red/gold ones that I caught in the spring or fall on the East Grounds just east of Block Island in 45 to 60 feet of water. These fat football shaped gadids from 5 to 15 lbs fed mostly on crabs lobsters and small choggies. The flesh is sweet. I preferred baking the fillets with a Ritz cracker crumb topping. The topping was crushed sleeve or 2 of Ritz or Club crackers in a pan on low with a stick of 2 of butter. The zest and juice of a lemon or 2, a splash of chardonnay and s/p to taste. So good! Any codfish I ate were always bled and put in a saltwater slush immediately upon capture.
  2. Anyone else realize there are no acorns to speak of this fall?
  3. These are the best maps I have seen yet for these events
  4. My great grandmother had my grandmother at age 48 in 1913. My great grandmother kicked her husband out of the house after my grandmother was born as he wasn't good for much. My grandmother's siblings were all obviously much older (16-28). My great grandmother and grandmother did just fine. No mistake
  5. Thank goodness for that strange event beginning of the month in December, with a round 2 that was the first real positive bust here in decades
  6. Flurries and graupel in Agawam but quiet here in death valley, sky looks wild out that way too
  7. I agree with ctvalley the 2.9 might be a bit low in this area although downtown would not surprise me....4 to 5 will do it the upslope is astonishing and the retention once above 800-1k this time of year too
  8. Strongly agree with this but folks just go on and on and on measuring all the time.....
  9. and that alone makes it a far more superior event the mid level magic 20-30 inches is awesome but 12/92 and 4/97 it is not period
  10. there are still too many imperfections with today's forecasting, models were terrible back here right through midnight runs...business closed and schools closed, people had to scramble to make plans for kids, etc.....seems very wasteful to me
  11. No one was polluting anything, this was a historic storm for many folks and soul crushingly poor for more than a few others.
  12. but the cape will periodically see epic events, the cape will see single storm rates and depths those in the valley only dream of.....i feel a smidge bad for the capers today though missing big snows and loosing power....must suck
  13. exactly, we do it was a horrible bust valley wide and if it makes some weenie feel better to say we had 6 inches when there is 3 otg to cheat his/her way to the very low end of a forecast well then he/she can have at it
  14. I really don't care how either of you spin it...the forecast was horrible and the snow worse...its mid march in the valley and it flurries/scattered snow showers all day on warm ground etc etc I cleared once...have 4 total and 3.2 otg and it feels cheap reporting 4 it is still half or less of what was forecast for the entire valley
  15. I can't believe you have 5, I have 3...perhaps 3.5 if i cleared a board etc...and downtown is even worse at 2....this is what I mean you are in a better spot than I am as you get more snow by 1-3 inches 9/10 times when ineedsnow was out in agawam some storms he had 3-6 more than what I had, maybe even a bit more in the real big ones
