  1. Meanwhile, this happened just a couple miles from my house. Pretty cool video if you wait for the commercial to end. https://www.pahomepage.com/top-stories/police-chase-through-luzerne-county-ends-in-arrest/
  2. Correct. And how many times have fish storms trended back and buried us? How many went the too far and cut? No need to panic, or even get depressed, at this point.
  3. And I'm the opposite. I want it warm during the work week so I don't have to deal with frozen trailers and hoses.
  4. I know I'm going to get shot or hung for this, but why can't it be like this all winter?
  5. Damn... Overcast with a very heavy mist/drizzle and 44 here. Just about as ugly as it gets.
  6. No it wasn't, but the idea of a mix (which I abhor) kind of irritated me. Especially with the advertised cold coming. A brief warmup to 33 to 35 with mixed slop sucks. I want a nice, pure snow event.
  7. So the 1/6 storm, per the 6z GFS, cuts to the lakes, then redevelops off the coast of Rhode Island. Amazing....
  8. Great write up as always, MAG, but I'm quoting this for a reason. I just mentioned to my wife that it'll be cold here this winter because I'm back (the past two were mild here and chilly out west) and she looked at me cross eyed as if I was plum crazy. It seems to be true though that cold weather follows me around the country. Unscientifically, wherever I am, there too shall the cold be... lol
  9. Just think what I could do if there was a way to put a snow gun on the back of that thing...
  10. On that note, when was the last time a modeled cutter trended back to a coastal bomb? Seems the bomb to cutter scenario plays out far more often.
  11. 19 here and I'm sick of it already. It means another PITA morning of hammering and torching to get my valves and hose caps unfrozen... I hate water hauling in the winter.
  12. Low was 19 this morning at 2:30am. So far, only up to 25 as of 9:30am.
  13. I don't know. My forecast was for a full sunny day, but it didn't happen.
  14. So far my wish came true. Still a solid gray overcast here in Tamaqua...
  15. Christmas was best when I believed in Santa, too. There was a special magic to Christmas back in those years.
  16. I wonder. Is there any kind of recorded history of the correlation of white Christmases to snowy winters? We managed to hang onto an inch or so of snow from Friday and Yesterday for a rare white Christmas.
  17. I'm so glad it remained overcast today. Most of the snow would have been toast if it got sunny. Hope tomorrow is dark and overcast as well. For some reason, I prefer cloudy to sunny on Christmas Day. Doesn't look like I'll get my wish, though. Christmas Day Sunny, with a high near 36. North wind 3 to 5 mph.
  18. Piles don't count. You have to steal all of your neighbors' snow and scatter it evenly across your own property.
  19. Well, that was a quick hitter, but at least I was able to measure. We got 3/4 inch. Now if only it would stay as cold as yesterday through tomorrow, we could keep most of it, plus what's left from Friday, so it would make for a white Christmas. We're supposed to go upper 30's with possible sun later, so I don't know.
  20. Light snow has commenced here in Tamaqua. It must have just started as nothing is showing white yet. If I hadn't noticed a "foggy" appearance near a streetlight, I wouldn't have even known.
  21. Four degrees? That's a heat wave. I was zero and most areas outside of town got down to -2 to -4. Oh, and hauling water sucks. This was my best friend this morning.
