  1. Wishing you and your family member the best Canderson...
  2. And I'd welcome all of you, but sorry, Tamaqua never ends up in the jackpot zone...lol
  3. As far as the kick in above the state unemployment weekly benefit rate, I'd be happy if the Feds would just add in the difference to get folks to their normal 40 hour work week. Even that would be a big help.
  4. We had a light coating on the cars. Not even enough to whiten the grass.
  5. Do you think that's a possibility? I've been weighing the pros and cons of going back out on the road trucking to keep busy while the bus industry was shut down, but if that's the case, then I might just want to stay close to the house. One thing that did concern me was that if people couldn't afford food, would highway piracy and truck hijackings increase?
  6. 100% of our school buses and motorcoaches are parked, and I was told not to expect much, if any, work before May 1st. I filed on Tuesday. First claim week isn't until the 29th though.
  7. It is for getting food and supplies to market. A large crippling storm has a major effect on transportation and logistics, and at a time when it's critical to get (and try to keep) food and necessary items on the store shelves, a disruption could cause major problems. Then there are the first responders, as well as other essential business workers, who could be impacted by delays, or not being able to otherwise, under normal conditions, make it into work or wherever they need to be. I know "Mother Nature" will do what she's going to do regardless of how it impacts us, but I really and sincerely hope for mild and benign weather right now while we battle this medical, and budding financial, crisis.
  8. The last thing we need right now is a paralyzing snow storm...
  9. No. I decided to stay with it, which was a big mistake now. I'm in the process of fixing it though. Even after this blows over, residual fear and a looming recession/depression will keep the tourism industry weak for quite awhile most likely.
  10. I was thinking about that last night after NWS Philly put out a FB post about it being the 27th anniversary of the March 93 Superstorm. Could you imagine if we had something like that to deal with right now?
  11. This, plus sports and virtually anything recreational being cancelled, has put me right back out of work for a minimum of 2 weeks and most likely longer than that. This is the time when the bus trips usually pick back up with school field trips and spring athletics, as well as general charter work for sightseeing and theater shows.
  12. I really don't want to kill your (or others) joy, but why, of late, has winter waited until spring to arrive? Summers are lasting into October now, and winters are lasting deep into March and April.
  13. Only made it to 40 here. But man, that wind! All those advisories this winter and today was the worst around these parts. Trees were roaring and wires were whistling...
  14. No joke. I think today is THE windiest day we've had all winter her in Tamaqua.
  15. My first day on the new job. It happens ALL THE TIME...
  16. ***removed by me*** Very frustrated right now, but no need to post what I did, so I self moderated myself...
  17. Three times I was ready to switch jobs/companies, and three times there was a threat of snow, until I realized the job switch wasn't right and cancelled it. As soon as I did, the snow threat went away. So here is #4 and this one is the right one. That means this threat is legit because we ALWAYS get a storm when I start a new job...
  18. Many times I wish my parents moved to Florida instead of Arizona. I love AZ, but Florida is greener and I'd be much closer, and it would be much easier, to visit my ailing mother.
  19. Apparently it made it to Tamaqua. Up for an early bird run to Philly and I have about a half inch of unexpected snow on the ground...
