Thankfully none of that 2" nonsense up here. Just a steady mod/low end heavy.

So it was a bad choice?
What about something with some showy flowers in the spring? Like a redbud or dogwood?
A tulip tree grown in a more open space would probably get a lot more wide/full than you experience in the forest where all of the trees are trying to outrace the others to light. Those will put out beautiful flowers after a decade or so of age. They have unique beautiful leaves too.
Is there any particular look you were going for?

Summer here was basically 7/5-7/8.

Maybe some monthly record low maxes out there as well?
QuoteIn addition to widespread rainfall and flash flood impacts,
temperatures will drop substantially this weekend, which will
threaten several daily record "cool" max temperatures across our
forecast area. The forecast high temperature for Las Vegas on Sunday
is 79F. The record coolest maximum temperature for August there is
78F, which was set in 1957. According to the NBM, Las Vegas has a 34
percent chance of tying or breaking this record. -
Euro with 3-5" for DV now too. Let's make Furnace Creek lush again.

Euro much colder again next week and now further east with the So Cal tropical. Seems like the gfs is owning that model.
GFS has been kicking its ass sensibly although I'm sure the euro is still winning the H5 battle over Thule, GL and Verkhoyansk, RS.

What a snoozer for summer here since that cold front on 7/29.

Still in the upper 60s at 1230pm. The GFS struggles out of the 50s here Saturday. Then a couple warm days and we cool it down again. BOS will have a chance to pull a BN JJA.
Looks like some pretty extreme temp changes, for August standards, in the extended.

It's tough to say. They're on a little island in the Persian Gulf. Dews near 90F happen. They were in one of those situations with mid 80s dews overnight and then the temp rose and then they dried and mixed out with easterly flow. The dew shot up in the morning with the temp rise, but I'm not sure what their equipment is and if the 97F was real. Sometimes moisture condenses on the sensors when there's a temp rise...or they had some dew evaporate off as the temp climbed. Either way, it's pretty brief and par for the course out there. It's been intolerable living out there forever.

I think they have a tendency to canker easily. You'll want to prune out any growth that shows sign of it so it doesn't spread.
