  1. You think it drops? Those 90/70 days will add up. I guess we’ll see how the final 10 days shape out, but it’ll take quite a cool down to balance out the next couple weeks.
  2. It’s up there though. 2024 ran too warm at BDL. That 75.5 probably should’ve been 73-73.5.
  3. Just had time to watch this. I don’t think any are truly resistant. Some just find a way to avoid the spores for a long time. There was an original tree in Farmington, NH that they were hand pollinating with that I believe started succumbing in recent years. There’s another one in Maine that they found when flying over the forests as well. The further north you get the more it seems the blight is less intense. There’s planted trees from the 1800s in Wisocnsin that are finally beginning to get hit by the westward spreading blight as well. There’s high elevation trees in the Appalachians that are mature and producing viable nuts so it has struggled going “upward”. SUNY ESF is going to be distributing their Darling 54 gene edited tree soon. I’ve soured on that project in recent years. I liked what the woman was doing in the video with growing out saplings and injecting them with a dose of blight to test their resistance in a controlled environment.
  4. I will take more yore air masses if we can shut off that damn Labrador current.
  5. I thought marky moregarbage had all pools in PA closed?
  6. Thankfully we don’t get many in the summer anymore.
  7. The great cold front of Mid August 2025 looks impressive.
  8. All pools in Philly metro are closed now. Hate to see it.
  9. I moved a piece of wood near my potted grafted apple and pear trees this evening and found 2 asian jumping worms under it. I'm pretty sure they came over in some Coast of Maine soil. Bummer
  10. Very strong smell of smoke this evening. 70.1/65
  11. I understand. I’m just talking fires in general.
  12. Yeah. They’re trying to fight them too. I say let them go and burn hot like they naturally would. Finish off all of that dry, dead wood and stop the smoldering.
  13. Yeah I believe it. I haven’t looked into the origins of these. And I’m not insinuating arson…just the ol’ “oopsy I thought I had it out” deal. I won’t claim to be an expert on this. Maybe I’m totally full of shit.
  14. This is how you run a smoke day
  15. Polar vortexes and heat domes happen every year. But they came and went and we went on with our lives. Now everything is hyped and made out to be a huge deal. It’s a little hazy and smelly but it’s 5-7 mile vis in the worst spots. More annoying than impactful.
  16. I think it’s more hyped. But I think there’s more fires being started by people too…not necessarily because of social media. Just more people and more people getting out into the outdoors and not listening to Smokey the Bear.
  17. I lived in MHT during that. It was like a low overcast day except it was just yellow orange clouds and air…rarely saw the orb of the sun.
  18. Social media magnifies everything now. There’s probably an uptick with more people hiking and camping out there and starting more fires. Summer 02 had a real smoke day with low ceilings and vis down to 1-2sm.
  19. Brooklyn Blues? Bronx Blues? NYPD Blues?
  20. It’s a little hazy here, but most of it seems aloft right now.
  21. Nice orange-red smoke moon tonight.
  22. I had read somewhere that the german ones are more likely to nest in walls and the native eastern ones more likely underground.
