Weather hounds, can you help me with Saturday's weather? Just planning ahead for the Texas football game at noon at FedEx in Landover and see rain possibilities but I'm not good as discerning percentage or timing for some reason with this event.

    Any help?

Drink 9 of these then nothing really matters

More summer evidence of fun times ahead!

    eta: the blob returns

Seeing high end weak to low end moderate is definitely something to like as we approach September.  w/ 70% likelyhood of Nino going into winter, is a BIG duck on the hopefully frozen and snowcovered winter pond for us.  Throw in some blocking and hopefully fun times a comin

So so tired of this heat and o friggin pressive humidity.  Nearing September tells us that at least the worst should soon be over.

  3. I just thought that it would be a refreshing pic for those of us that are tired of the heat/humidity.

I'm fine w/ summer but this ungodly humidity really gets me cranky.

Fall is a great time of year and my second favorite to the obvious.

Enjoy the holiday weekend yall, and see ya sometime in September.

Don’t look now but next weekend our upstate friends may hit upper 40s. We down in the LSV look to be from Saturday through 10 days in the mid 60s lows and low 80 highs. That puts us around Aug 23 - we are quickly running out of hot weather!!!!!

    such a tease.........

    :)

    keep it up.

Last night on TWC they were discussing the implications of a tropical system hitting the east. And the main concern they had was because of all the rain that has fallen to date.

looking at overnight ensemble runs, to me that is a rather low probability thru EOM.  upper level supports progressive flow trending rather zonal, so shear would likely keep anything out of the western atl or GOM from being able to gain much latitude.  Fishy storms if any

Read somewhere it doesn't look like summer will be a stronghold in September. Hope that's true - I'm looking forward to low humidity 65 degree days.

Yeah I'm starting to pay a little more attention to the fall, as the fuzzy LR outlooks start to hold a little more merit.  Liking where things seem to be headed way down the road as a low/low mod Nino appears to be a good possibility, but for the shorter term, I'll just enjoy a refreshing breeze an clear blue skies..

    have a good one all.

I don't think I have ever seen anything like this. The pattern doesn't seem to want to change. Some days 1.65" even on an off day .50" from downpours. Yesterday it was more to the east of us.

Everyone stay dry!!! Just think if this was snow...

    I didnt say it.....you did.

But good lord do i ever think it.  All the time.

that ctp graphic above shows that many of us in east central pa have gotten raked....and looking at the lr on TT we still look to be not quite be out of the woods yet.

this has been one of the muggiest summers in some time.  Looking forward to Septembers first cool shots (hopefully anyway).

Ya know...when I see your icon on the feed...I already know what I'm gonna see, lol But really...are you one that believes you can speak a good winter into existence, or are you just an optimist in general?

I think his post style answers your question for you.

Never met anyone that was super positive about something and hated the rest of their existence....just sayin.

Jeb, we'll point snowblowers SW and throw as much fluff your way as possible.  All the best to you in the new opportunity.

Well guys. I know it has been a while since I last posted in here, but I wanted to say thank you all for the support over the years and allowing me to be part of the weather family that is the Central PA sub-forum. The reason I am saying this is because I will be moving this summer and embarking on my journey west, full-filling my dream as a National Weather Service Meteorologist out in Midland, Texas. I will also be getting married in early June prior to heading out and my last full-time shift at my current position is tomorrow. It has certainly been a pleasure and I will make sure to check in on occasion, especially with any big Winter Storms on the horizon. But for now, I will be trading in my snow hat for a hard hat as I head to the land of the dry line. I couldn't be more excited!!

Hey man.  All the best to you and congrats on all of the big news.

Happy for you (although if i were going west, ida looked a pinch N or NW, but i know sometimes you take what you can to get things going.

We look forward to some remote forecast assistance when we get into the snow season next year.  Always appreciated your insight and contributions to the forum.

Looking forward to true spring this week.  What a roller coaster its been so far.

I use it quite frequently, especially for the dual-pol observations. For reflectivity, I use the super-res, because its basically the same resolution as the "raw" level-2 data; the other ones are processed further and are lower resolution. The composite reflectivity is the max return in height observed by the radar at given location (though areas closer to the radar only have limited coverage in height, so precipitation aloft may not be detected). I usually go with the lowest-level tilts because those will be most representative of what's happening at the ground. Of course if you are interested in looking at precipitation at higher levels above you, go for the higher tilts!

WDT is a company that provides the radar data over the internet. I think it can be faster if lots of people are looking at the data at the same time (e.g., during chase season or other high impact weather events).

Let me know if you have any other questions about radar. I happen to study radar meteorology here at Penn State.

Do any of you use RadarScope as an app? I bought it for my iPhone last night and was just curious what the best option is (IE Super-Res Reflectivity (tons of tilt options), Base Reflectivity, Precipitation Depiction or Composite Reflectivity)?

I don't know much about the actual radar data so was curious what I should use as default. I chose NOAA's 20 Frames over WDT. I don't know what WDT means exactly ...

thx for sharing guys.  this is good stuff and something i've been pondering.  will need to check it out.

    happy wint...I mean spring.

This is June-level heavy rain here right now. Pretty cool 24 hours after heavy snow we had it all melt and now have heavy rain.

Weather's so fascinating. We're flying to Texas Friday and back Tuesday ... while you guys watch for snow here I'm watching for severe there. Things look interesting down there Friday and Saturday for storms.

Be safe. Enjoy the severe. I know some of u dig that stuff.

Bring it home Blizz....with this pattern no giving up. 18z shows similar look to previous runs where the cold front came in earlier not as strong and gave room for the low to come further north. If this was January suppressed city but its not I feel good about where we are right now. Squeeze one more. I was going in hibernation 2 weeks ago and it forced me back. LOL. It's Nut fault when he started the new thread he said see you in November and we are still staying up for the GFS, at least I am, in April. Well maybe not fault but good. :-)

I’ll gladly be the one to blame. Lol

Left HIA with snow just ending and arrived at Tampa st Pete to 81deg and was swimming in the gulf (Clearwater)by 2:30 this afternoon. Had to do it just to say I covered the extremes today.  Never did that before

dont tell the Warmies I said so... but it is nice down here.

Funny hearing the birds chirping up a storm.

    .

Let the dog out a while ago and thought the very same as the birds of spring were chirping away and the snow was falling.

I guess we now know bird talk for “WTF is this sh!t”
