  1. Hopefully the return to in person learning in some districts (and some are choosing full time...) doesn’t lead to siggy increases in cases etc. jury is still out. That will screech everything to a halt. I’m personally hoping I can at least work in my classroom. My setup at home (boonies) is less than ideal. Our son will be doing his university classes from our home. Possibly wife and daughter. Our bandwidth is not good
  2. Trust me, the remote teaching is shitloads harder (and less effective) than in person. The new protocols are pretty much impossible to follow (CDC says 6 feet apart, DESE says 3 feet is ok, neither is physically possible in most buildings). Plexiglass isn’t being installed ($$$), no HVAC upgrades in most places, PPE will be minimal. I really don’t think that most people care about the safety of teachers, or supermarket employees, or wait staff etc. The biggest concern voiced on the live stream by parents wasn’t the education of the kids, but how can they work? A valid concern but that is not the purpose of schools. I get it. I really do. The three proposals almost every district has suck in different ways.
  3. Schools are a tough one but I agree we should be in person at least some of the time. Bad ventilation, inability to stay even 3 feet apart seem to be the biggest concerns the SC went by. You can’t really compare schools to many other places but I think we should be there Our staff, the super, the head of the SC (mayor)(plus the parents of course) wanted at least a hybrid.
  4. My district’s (central part of Mass) school Committee just voted 5-4 to start the year full remote. This completely suuuuuuuucckkkks. Hopefully we can get back at least part time in person soon.
  5. It’s not August yet. Why are we posting obs in this thread in July?
  6. Mass with a second straight day of over 300 cases. But a second straight day of old data being worked in.
  7. Take Euro wind maps with lots of salt. Nice track though.
  8. Carol was later in August. But in general I agree
  9. Abundance of seals. They have a buffet laid out for them now
  10. I heard the thunder over the AC and we got some rain. But I don’t think it was bad here. Sounded more distant
  11. 85F pool water. Clear. Chemically balanced. Reggae playing. Beer in hand. That’s my jam. Still hoping to hit Misquamicut next week if that tropical threat behaves
  12. I rarely go out much beyond waist level anymore. Part of it comes from watching over my kids. They are a bit older now so that’s less of it. it also depends on the beach and conditions I like to use a boogie board and play in the waves a bit but if the beach is rocky that day... Now I’m farther from my drink
  13. Yup. Not a great solution but it helps. Neat article. https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2020/07/23/894425483/can-masks-save-us-from-more-lockdowns-heres-what-the-science-says
  14. I’m guessing that will take a few months? What a great day weather wise though. Warm but lower humidity. Pool was great.
  15. From the Mass.gov dashboard PLEASE NOTE: A technical reporting error by a hospital group caused a delay in its laboratory test results being reported to DPH. These newly reported test results have been included in today’s dashboard report and are reflected in today’s case totals. However, these positive test results have been assigned retrospectively to the appropriate date of test.
  16. Just seeing that now. So they put earlier data into today’s maybe? https://www.wcvb.com/article/massachusetts-covid-19-cornonavirus-numbers-daily-update-july-29-2020/33460678
  17. Mass numbers not good today. 356 new cases. 2.2%. Wear a freakin mask folks
  18. It’s actually a different band with the same name I think. Not sure if any Covid cases came out of it. The show was in North Dakota and no social distancing or masks.
