  1. I read there is a parking level on the 3rd floor on the other side of the building and it might have just rolled back.
  2. Happy first day of #MeteorologicalSpring ! Looking back at this past winter season (Dec - Feb), all of our climate sites had a top 10 warmest February and a top 10 warmest winter! Feb 2020 was also one of the least snowiest as Islip had the first snowless Feb on record!
  3. Yeah. I think since Dec 1st Bridgeport has had like 12 inches of rain and only 4 inches of snow. There is like a mass emergence of insects here this morning. Swarms everywhere.
  4. I saw on Facebook that they have to put that wording in on indiegogo. Its like some sort of required legal wording. Midea is the largest refrigeration company in the world. I doubt if you ordered one you wouldnt receive it. It looks like they may hit a million in backing soon. Their original goal was 200k.
  5. For those running window ac's this new design by Midea will save you alot of money. Especially with the high electric costs of New England. CT for example has the 3rd most expensive electricity with Hawaii and Alaska being number 1 and 2. Standard windows ac's are fixed speed and use a ton of electricity. This one has an inverter like a mini split and the compressor can adjust its capacity based on the cooling load. Midea claims at its lowest speed it will draw less than 200 watts. Most windows units run at 5 times that. Its is also 9 times quieter than a regular ac. Cost per kwh. Hawaii 34.43 Alaska 21.99 Connecticut 20.8 Massachusetts 20.6 California 19.44 New York 17.34 New Hampshire 18.9 Rhode Island 18.2 Vermont 17.9 Washington state has the lowest electricity rate at 7 cents due to their huge amount of cheap hydroelectric. Hydro Quebec also has some of the lowest rates in the world as well.
  6. On This Day in 1717: We remember the start of the "Great Snow of 1717" which was a parade of winter storms from February into early March.
  7. How old is the house? I dont think people realize how much you can save on energy costs with a modern airtight insulated home. You can also seal and insulate an older house pretty close to the same standards. I have solar but my house would cost me about $75-100 a month for heating in the winter if I had to buy the electricity.
  8. Thats crazy. I was kicked off my parents plan at 18 as soon as I graduated high school back in the 90s....
  9. Wait untill he sees what a new 16 year old driver cost to insure in CT... its
  10. Now you can have heated walkways just like Stowe at home.
  11. Those of you in Massachusetts heating with oil or propane should look into Mass Saves insane $1600 per ton incentive mini split/heatpump fuel optimization program. They are basically paying for almost half the cost or more of installing a heat pump to offset fossil fuels. Massachusetts is currently ranked 1st in nation for their various alternative energy incentives. Generous Fuel Optimization rebates are being offered to encourage the reduction of high CO2 heating fuels. Candidates must heat primarily with oil or propane, and install a qualifying central heat pump or mini-split heat pump with an approved integrated control. https://www.masssave.com/saving/residential-rebates/electric-heating-and-cooling
  12. Looking forward to another sunny day. Going to be one of the worst months for solar production. Yesterday was the first decent sunny day this month. Solar panels run way more efficient on cold clear days. Heat significantly lowers efficiency.
  13. Daffodils are coming up all along the shoreline here. I have tons of stuff sprouting in my flowerbeds. Grass is greening up. Its pretty crazy.
  14. British Airways Boeing 747 Possibly Set a Record Fastest Subsonic New York to London Flight Time This Weekend https://weather.com/news/news/2020-02-09-jet-stream-north-atlantic-flights-record-time
  15. Bolton Valley has a good 1080p live YouTube feed. Will be fun to look at later.
  16. Always cool to look at flightradar24 in setups like these. Some impressive jet speeds. This Lufthansa is cruising northeast at 750 mph. In bound flights are about half that around 320-350.
  17. Yeah. This place is such a weenie spot and there were flakes in the air all day yesterday. Looked it up and they average over 300 inches a year. I actually extended my stay untill tomorrow as we are going to get 1-3 tonight and tomorrow looks awesome for skiing. 6 lifts, 71 trails, and the highest base elevation in the Northeast (2100 ft). We average over 300″ of natural snow every year and our groomers are some of the best of the game. Expect snow accumulations between a dusting to one inch outside the mountains, with one to three inches across the high terrain. Mild temperatures are expected Monday and Tuesday with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s.
  18. When we bought a new Subaru last year they tried to sneak nitrogen filled tires and vin etching on for like $800 on the final price. Both are an absolute scam if you look it up.
  19. Skiing up at Bolton for a few days. Awesome skiing, weather, and the first time this winter I have seen a decent snowpack. Lol
  20. Home Depot here has a huge fleet now of trucks and box vans they rent out dirt cheap. If I need a pickup or van I just rent one from there. Less than 40 bucks for 2 hours.
  21. I have a newer style wood insert with the air tubes on top and its crazy how clean it burns. Its like a blowtorch on top that even burns most of he smoke. Your wood lasts so much longer as well.
  22. Are tons of people still running those outdoor wood boilers up there. I saw one down here yesterday and the thing was choking out the entire valley it was in. The amount of low lingering smoke that thing made was unreal.
  23. Noticed that here this morning as well on a hill nearby.
