  1. When I lived in VT 13 years ago you could pretty much trap/shoot them year round even at night. A farmer up the road from me would shoot them all the time as they would prey on his livestock. Coyotes are not native to New England and I think most states have like zero restrictions on killing them.
  2. East Haddam Woman Fights Off Coyote With Pitchfork, Donkey. I guess donkeys are known to be protective and will attack and kill coyotes. https://patch.com/connecticut/thehaddams-killingworth/east-haddam-woman-fights-coyote-pitchfork-donkey
  3. 77 here on the shoreline. Foliage is looking great this year
  4. Do the breweries pay well? I always assumed that like other skilled trades the money was good. I would assume a place like treehouse would pay well and have good benefits considering they are making a killing. I read an article where someone tried to analyze their profits off there production numbers give to the state of Mass. The conclusion was they are making an absolute obscene amout of money. There selling cans for like 4$ and its only available directly from them cutting out the beer distributors.
  5. Yes and its legal in the US. Marijuana is decriminalized in CT. Less than 1/2 oz is a civil penalty with a $150 fine.
  6. This seems a little overboard but it has to be because of all the recent huge parties. Hundreds of college kids rented a banquet facility and threw a huge Halloween party last weekend. There have also been huge underground parties in the cities as seen from the recent Bridgeport video. I heard people were still sort of able to go out drinking like at a bar for the night at restaurants. You just hung at a table and ordered like some fries and drank beers. Places were still open late. In coordination with Governor Ned Lamont’s Executive order 9K, effective at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020, DPH Acting Commissioner Deidre S. Gifford MD MPH is issuing an advisory for all Connecticut residents to stay home between the hours of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in order to reduce the risk of further viral transmission. The advisory applies to every Connecticut resident, except 1) those who are essential workers who must leave home in order to go to their jobs; and 2) anyone who must leave their home on an emergency basis to seek medical care or to purchase medical supplies, food or groceries.
  7. Dandelions were sprouting up last week here on the CT shoreline.
  8. Was visiting my sister last weekend in Boston and did aTrillium delivery. Going to light the wood stove and put a few back.
  9. It was Ryan who posted that. NEW HAVEN, CT — Connecting the dots, a meteorologist noted that a spike in COVID-19 infections in New Haven coincide with a dramatic increase in the virus being detected in sewage. https://patch.com/connecticut/newhaven/dramatic-spike-virus-concentration-new-haven-wastewater
  10. There will probably be one in Bridgeport soon...
  11. Haven't been below 40 here on the shoreline. Dandelions are starting to come up again around here. Tons of stuff is still flowering and growing.
  12. Track and trace shows increase in CT COVID-19 positivity rate mostly comes from informal gatherings, carpooling The state’s track and trace program shows it’s not coming from inside dining or schools, but the largest number is coming from informal gatherings and even things you don’t even think about like carpooling. https://www.wtnh.com/news/health/coronavirus/ct-reaches-3-covid-19-positivity-rate-but-where-is-the-increase-coming-from/
  13. Yeah. They mostly use the feedback from the medical side. Each strains properties are well known. For example here is one strain that got great feedback from vets with ptsd. Walker Kush Flower INDICA HYBRID THC 13.8% Walker Kush is a favorite strain for patients with PTSD, for its gentle calming and relaxing sensation. Effects may include: - Mental Clarity - Body Relaxation - Stress Reduction - Insomnia Relief
  14. Look how many people are killed from drunk drivers everyday. The total numbers when you factor in the deaths from alcohols health issues, violence, accidents, etc must be huge. More than a quarter (25%) of all traffic-related deaths are the direct result of alcohol impairment (NHTSA). 29 people die each day in automobile accidents that involve a drunk driver (CDC). Around 800 people per day are injured in a drunk driving crash and 30 people die (NHTSA).
  15. Trees taking down wires is going to be a big issue for a long time and it ill probably get worse. So many trees are dying off from ash borer, gypsy moths, disease/drought etc. Millions of Ash are going to die off over the next few years from EAB alone. Just look around at how many dead trees there are everywhere just waiting to fall on lines. Trees are extremely expensive to remove. There's going to be millions of dead ones that need to be cut down with no money to pay for it.
  16. Congrats VT on legalizing recreational Marijuana today. Maines first recreational marijuna sales starts tomorrow as well.
  17. Harbor Freight has a 4000 watt 240 volt generator for $359. I have the Harbor Freight 2000 watt inverter that is literally identical to the Wen version. Its been great and I have got like 16 hours of runtime on a light load off 1 gallon of gas. Inverters are awesome as they electronicly adjust the throttle to the load. Big gas generators run at a fixed 3600 rpms and guzzle gas. I use the inverter 90 percent of the time during an outage and fire up my 6500 watt just to run the water heater and for cooking. My house is all electric/solar. The inverter can run my fridge, chargers, light's and even a window ac.
  18. 70k Eversoruce customers out in Mass and 17k in CT. Its ironic that they passed a bunch of new laws today in CT holding the utilities more liable during storms.
  19. It looks like most of the hospitalizations in CT are now in the Eastern part of the state. Seems like it's starting to hit areas hard that had very few cases in the spring. Connecticut's COVID-19 hospitalizations have reached the highest point they've been since June 23, according to Governor Ned Lamont. Since Friday, there has been a net increase of 19 hospitalizations, bringing the state total to 129. Lamont said New London County accounts for half of the state's current hospitalizations and only about 10% of Connecticut's population. https://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/coronavirus/watch-live-at-4pm-gov-lamont-to-provide-update-on-states-coronavirus-response-3/2341902/
  20. I haven't been up to that part of the state in a few months. Rivers, streams and ponds are legit like completely dried up.
