  1. Sun is out in Stamford and my van says its 53.
  2. Yeah. Was reading a reddit thread about it this morning. The amount of water pipes bursting is insane. Almost 5 million without power. Saw a drone video at night and the entire city was pitch black. People were burning furniture or whatever they had outside to try and stay warm.
  3. What a mess in Texas with the electric grid. The spot price of wholesale electricity on the Texas power grid spiked more than 10,000% on Monday amid a deep freeze across the state and rolling outages among power producers, according to data on the grid operator's website. Real-time wholesale market prices on the power grid operated by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) were more than $9,000 per megawatt hour late Monday morning, compared with pre-storm prices of less than $50 per megawatt hour, according to ERCOT data. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-electricity-texas-prices-idUSKBN2AF19A
  4. 2.8 million without power in Texas. Crazy how much the demand outstrips supply. Look at the green line for the forecasted demand this afternoon and evening.
  5. I thought they ended that. People were using the service dog emotional support loophole. The last time we flew we sat next to a girl that had a cat on her lap. My wife has severe allergies to cats and it sucked.
  6. I lived in Burlington from 2006-2010 when my wife was at UVM. My memory is a little fuzzy from that time frame.. Lol. But I remember it being redicously cold and snowy those years. I wish I still had my pictures from that storm. My car was buried to the roof.
  7. Spring was already under way here on the CT shoreline weeks ago. I had dandelions and weeds coming up, my roses were leafing out, bulbs sprouting. Any exposed grass is brown but under my pack my lawn is lush and green. Was digging out some firewood and the lawn looks great under the pack.
  8. My neighbor is a lineman for Eversource. He said they are bringing in a ton of out of state crews on standby.
  9. Yeah. It's pretty cold up north. Lol
  10. Crazy stat on Fairfield County real estate. The Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk metro area led the nation in U.S. home price increases in the fourth quarter, up by 39%, according to the National Association of Realtors.
  11. From Twitter in Norwalk. Almost 3 inches here from a 6hr storm on just 0.10" liquid falling. 27:1 ratios
  12. 2 inches in Branford on the shoreline.
  13. The real estate market is nuts in Boston. My sister bought a 1920's house in Brookline that was converted to 2 condos back in 2007 for 800k. Its worth 1.6 million now. She is getting $6250 a month for the 2400 sq ft and $3750 for the 1400 sqft one. She said when she listed one last year the amount of applications she got was unreal.
  14. Maybe BDR can jump up another spot with tomorrow's snow.
  15. Congrats Bridgeport. Yesterdays snow bumped them to 7th most above normal.
  16. I'm a big fan of New England Brewing Co. Their Sea Hag Ipa is huge down here around New Haven.
  17. About time. As Connecticut moves toward legalizing marijuana for recreational purposes, a new bill thrusts the equitable treatment of communities of color — and other groups adversely affected by the failed war on drugs — into the center of the debate that would appropriate state funds to develop a legal cannabis pipeline for workers previously convicted of cannabis crimes The bill would also allow local Native American tribes to open cannabis operations, authorize UConn to grow its cannabis research programs and — notably — permit each adult in a household to grow up to six marijuana plants at home.
