    September was a torch here with an average temp of 70.3. I'm hoping we get another winter like 2020 with monthly winter averages 36+. HVN's average monthly temp data.

    Same here. The CT shoreline is now classified humid subtropical. I think parts of SE Mass are as well. I run my central air well into October. I have had endless 72+ dewy nights here this month and like 14 80+ days.

    Yep. Don't understand how people live in 400k houses but won't spend the money for central air or mini splits. There are crazy state and federal rebates for splits and central ac in every New England state. My sister has a few rental houses in Narragansett RI and had to install ac in all of them a couple years ago. Its like the top question when people rent in the summer.

    I use Wondercide cedarwood/lemongrass oil on my fenced backyard our puppy uses. I only use organic stuff in his area. I haven't found any grubs on the sections of lawn I have recently pulled up after having a patio put in. https://www.wondercide.com/

    They got hit hard by the chip shortage and have had many shutdowns. My wife has a 2018 Crosstrek and it's insane how much used ones are going for. It's lost like no value since she bought it.

    It only makes sense if you have cheap or free electricity from solar. New England has the highest electricity rates in the lower 48. It doubt the numbers would work out when electricity cost .23 kwh. States like Washington state have cheap hydro power that cost .08 kwh.

    A friend in the HVAC industry said the shortages are nuts. Parts and new furnaces have insanely long wait times. Said its going to be an ugly winter

    Had 3 nights of +20 departures. It was 77 here until 1 am.

    It was 76/72 most of the night here but bottomed out at 75 for an hour. Normal low is 55 at HVN so a +20 departure. It's been full sun all morning and its up to 80/73 now.

    Normal bee spray won't work on yellow jackets in nest like that. Your just going to get them angry. You need to use a professional spray or powder that you use on the entrance hole and they bring deep inside the nest. Do it yourself pest control online sells what you need.

    Thats my pup Woody who's is half Dachshund/Chihuahua. He is a legit true weenie who loves heat and high dews. Its been a special summer for him.

    Didn't realize that cheap Kentucky Bluegrass sod is a available here. The place I got it said there is a bunch of sod farms in CT, MA and RI. The sod I got had come in that morning from RI. Each 5x2 10 sqft piece was $6 so .60 sqft. We had a paver patio put in and it cost me less than $100 to instantly have nice lush weed free grass around it. Definitely worth it over dealing with germinating seeds and all the weeds.

    Can someone post the monthly departures for HVN and BDR? Its been an absolute furnace here and the overnight lows have been running crazy high. Every night is like a 70+ min here. BDR I think tied its record max yesterday of 86.

    Some of the best swimming of the year here. The water temp in the sound off New Haven is currently 76.3.

    It sure is. I'm at my sister's in Milford and the beaches are packed like it's early August. 82/68 according to the closest WU station.

    What a special summer. 72 for the overnight low with some gusty dews coming in now. Strengthening southwesterly flow, and occasionally gusty along the coast, early this morning, was bringing in higher dew points. And temperatures have remained nearly steady. Updated for current conditions and trend this morning.

    $1800 a year on gas for just the pool heater? My buddy owns a pool company and he said they have insanely efficient inverter driven pool heat pumps now. They operate at a coefficient of performance (cop) of 14. That's an effective efficiency of 1400%. For every 1kw used your sending 14kw into the pool.

    It is when you have comprehensive coverage. Many people don't though and are driving older cars. I just talked to another friend who can't even get a converter for his car. Places are saying so many are being stolen they can't even get replacements. Another friend said they hit his work van but also destroyed the entire exhaust system including the oxygen sensors. They had to replace everything from the exhaust manifold back and it was like almost 4k.

    With the rise in precious metals catalytic converters are being stolen like crazy now. My brother in New Haven said his whole neighborhood has been hit multiple times. They go under with a Sawzall and cut it out in less than a minute. I looked up prices and they are worth a few hundred in scrap each. The repair bills can be huge as a new converter are often over 1k for just the converter. My brother had to spend 1800 to get his Honda fixed.

    Been an incredible summer for gardens. My hydrangeas and hostas are blooming again. My tomatoes are flowering again and on their 2nd crop of tomatoes.
