If you want an accurate measurement for Westchester look up Jerome(?) Thaler and see what he had. He is the pre-eminent weather guru for the Lower Hudson Valley.

3.7" with light/moderate rain falling, 43* W/NW @ 8-10 with gusts in the low 20's. There's a disappointingly large amount of leaves still on the trees, not so much on the trees that were showing color pre-storm but the green ones are still fully loaded. The power must have flickered because the microwave clock reset to 0. Cool storm but other than a bunch of rain it didn't live up to the hype.

Up 6* at one 7 at the other, up 1mb and wind flipped to W at both now.

Meso station to my SW is off 4*, up 2mb and the wind flipped to the W, NE temp is still up but they're flipping and up 1mb. It's kinda cool having them spaced like they are.

3.3", 63* and tropical feeling, the wind is there but not anywhere near what was talked about.

I couldn't agree more. Lets get this thing done so I can do a final run through the property with the lawn mower and chop up all the leaves and sticks and put her to bed for the winter. Heh, that's when I shovel the piles into one big one out by the street so it melts into the street not the driveway.

I was just posting to say when it started, actually at that point it had been raining for about 30 minutes already. It started raining much earlier on this side of the river than by you, I'm at ~.5" already here.

Windy enough that it was a leaf storm in the woods this afternoon. Other than the trails being completely covered and tough to find it was an absolutely beautiful day to be mt biking.

Don't have a generator I do have a couple of trees I'm concerned about though, especially with what looks to be an extended period of SE then NW winds. Those are the two directions I think the bad trees will be the most likely to come down from. Thankfully they both lean away from my house We were going to deal with them this summer and a few days from when the tree guys were going to come the well pump crapped out so the $$ got redirected.

Yeah it's really starting to look like it's got whopper potential. I think I may start cleaning up around the yard and bring in all of the loose things that could fly away. Hopefully some more leaves come down before the big blow otherwise branches and trees will be falling like raindrops. Feels like fall out there today

Yup. 30-40 miles to my SE Brian had a solid storm raging while we were bbq'ing dinner.

Looks like right around 1/4" here with maybe one more thin band yet to come through. So what, now it dries out until the ULL comes through tomorrow?

That's some fer real rain goin' out there. It comes in waves and the wind with each one is great. In the heaviest downpours the water is running off the hill in torrents because of the dry ground and leaves.

Yeah some pockets of good color popped over the last few days but nothing too special. I was up in Columbia County riding on Sunday and there were a few stands of trees that were nice but overall it was just okay. I made another quick run up to the NEK yesterday and there were also a few spots that were good but by the time you get to where I89 comes into VT from NH it was more sticks than leaves. This wind today/tonight ought to take care of whatever color is left but there's still a ton of green down here, hopefully that changes.

Hopefully that vibrancy won't be too muted by a few days of windy, grey, rainy weather because that will probably bring the leaves down and turn it into stick season pretty quickly.

Too much green. Like was said, some are bare, some are sort of colorful, many are just getting crunchy without really turning and some never changed from that late summer green. Oh well there's always next year. Was out in the woods along the Taconic just south of Rt 301 yesterday and holy cow is it dry. Wowza Many small ponds are dry and the topsoil is just crumbly in a lot of areas. Another nice day today

Ooh the amount of smoke that worked its way into the house for a little while until the chimney heated up was impressive Once it got going it was fine and then last night no problem at all. I guess the long wet spring loosened some crap that needed to burn off or drop out. I've been on that bandwagon for a long time but now have an official way to confirm it. When taken in conjunction with KDXR which is a similar distance east and another that's a bit south of that it really starts to give me a better picture of what's going on. When I add in some of the home stations on WU and similar it's pretty amazing the differences in a small area. Beautiful day out there now, quickly approaching 60* already.

Wow what a difference a few miles can make. I've started to watch the local Meso sites more closely and the one a few miles SW of me is a full 10 degrees higher than the one a few miles NE of here. I can't imagine the distance is any more than 20 miles but the difference in temp and rainfall is sometimes pretty significant. Even in storms where we have what appears to be a pretty uniform precip coverage the difference will be .5" or more and especially in the mornings the temp will be 10* or more.
