What are people here doing wrong with their measurements vs. the "official' ones from the NWS final tallies? More than not the official numbers are lower than the ones we give.

Slant sticking :D, actually I usually find the official measurements are higher than what I have.

They don’t mKe stuff like they used to, that’s for sure. My dad had a craftsman snowblower that we would beat the piss out of and just put it away during the summer. Thing fired up next winter no problem.

I had a craftsman lawn tractor, never did a damn thing to it and started for 15 years every single time. Only thing I did was sharpen the blades now and then.

That's a great suggestion, thanks. I never thought to do it that way. It's always the simple thing that makes a difference.

I do it every time I fill my 5 gallon gas can, only time I don't is in the middle of summer when I know I'll empty it in a month.

The 20:1ness of the snow quality might be problematic without refits, outside of the meso band/lolly axis.  The 4-5'ers, those of us skirting that band, sublimation might take some toll on it.

That said, it does not appear there is any kind of rapid turn-around in thickness after this thing.  In fact, it'll be rather chilly through the weekend.  As Will mentioned - there's some sort of whisky boundary threat for rain/snow showers ..probably ending as a WINDEX as that arctic truer blue expression comes through.   Between the cold before that front, and the cold during next week... probably what fell is safe.  Areas like me to ASH and FIT may be down to grass blades poking through.   Squalls can help but not much...

Fleeting possibility a clipper like S/W later this week may emerge from the mid range as refit potential but that's long odds.

It'll get crushed down but after Tuesday it may be a nice solid base, albeit half as deep.

I just looked on YouTube about taking the carb off. What a project that’s going to be. Of course it’s not easily accessible.

Would taking just the bowl off and cleaning that and hitting the inside of it with some carb cleaner work? I can see the nut and bowl without taking anything apart… so I’m wondering if just removing the bowl would be enough

You can try that before you get more involved but like JC said, 90% of the time it's the carb.

Congrats. Mine didn’t work today…lol. The gear shifter is messed up. Prob a rusted gear wheel inside but not 100% sure. Thankfully there’s an older dude around the corner who repairs snow blowers so he’s gonna look at it tomorrow.

At least this was a good storm to not have the snow blower. It was rpettt east to shovel this champagne powder. Only annoying part was the denser snow banks at each end of my horseshoe driveway.

The banks are always the worst, especially when you 15-20 inches and it's not powdery, its usually a heavy snow.

Getting some nice little bands rotating in. Not accumulating too much from these but coating up where I shoveled…might pick up another couple tenths

Still a steady light snow here, just wants to hang on.

That’s Clown maps ftl though. Back in the old days there was more to it. I think models overall did a good job inside D3 indicating the features at play and the subtle trends nw along with the banding signal. Too often (myself included), we use qpf or clowns to paint a picture while being thrown off by all the models that run 24x per day. There is way too much noise these-days. Less is better.

I’m still learning how to interpret soundings and fronto. I wish we could do a gtg but instead of listening to everyone’s drunken snow stories…it could be scooter, will, and others using a white board teaching us some met stuff. Eat, smoke, drink, and learn…

I second that, we could learn more in an afternoon than we know, of course we can still drink beers.

Been snow blowing.  Almost too much for m this machine.   Snowing pretty hard again

You may need to get a bigger machine. i went as big as I could when I bought mine last year, sick of the blower bogging down and getting clogged.

Glad the forecast worked out, bud. Enjoy it. I should have stuck with 6-12" instead of changing to 5-10", but I did explicitly mention some spots will approach a foot

Congrats for sticking to your guns with all the model mayhem

Dude, EVERYONE Around me has 11”+ and is going to get a Foot.  That’s a HUGE fail in my data, That Many will get to put 1’ storm and I don’t.  It’s a Massive Fail.  Easily in my Top 25 most Frustrating stores in my life.

You're being a jack queen, you'll end up just fine,
