I remember plenty of snow days growing up in the Albany suburbs but I never remember going to bed already knowing school has been canceled. And I’m not old, only a little more than 15 years out of high school.
It boggles my mind now how everything is cancelled so far in advance. I remember we’d always start with a 2-hour delay, then go to closing. No way in hell would you be lucky enough to know about it the night before, even if March 2001 was coming.
We used to get up at six and put the radio on praying to hear our school was cancelled. Never the night before.

1-3” from Ryan is certainly doable. What’s bad about that? Wolfie growling.
Wolfie got porked yesterday so not feeling optimistic, 1-3 seems reasonable based on guidance.

Ya..it’s been a lousy storm for most. 2inches here total so far. Don’t think much more happens. Modeling all over the place lol..it’s pretty much done I think for most. Maybe extreme eastern areas get clipped?
You only got 2 inches from the whole event?

Models had us at 35/36 and raining most of the day. They typically do well torching the mid levels but then they think the surface has to follow.
I haven't got above 31 through all this

I mean everyone likes posting them but they seldom verify with so may run to run changes or at all, Everyone sees those big totals and just goes all weenie over them, Folks need to step back, This is the first event of the season for many, And many years this date has produced nothing, Take what you get and deal with it.
Agree, its only Dec 1st and I have 7+ inches, if there's no part two or its less I consider this a good start to winter.

Question for everybody:
My wife has to drive from Newton to Sturbridge area for work. How good are they about salting/plowing the highways? I am wondering if she should just call the day off tomorrow/Tuesday. Thanks. They keep the pike pretty clean so she should be ok, unless some truck jack knifes and traffic gets backed up for 10 miles.

So... Gil Simmons.. A Met on WTNH in CT just did a live feed on FB. He said only to expect and inch or two tonight....and that most will get above freezing tomorrow during the day ( he said not to bank on closed schools ). He also say that round 2 tomorrow night might bring us 1-3 at the most. I think he is using the 3k NAM ( which he showed ). He seemed very confident that this will be the outcome.so, im guessing these snow maps from the Euro and HRRR aren't accurate. Well...at least we are getting the ground covered. :-)
Of all the models not sure I'd put my money on that one.
