  1. Thoughts? Low-end totals in NYC? https://x.com/matthewcappucci/status/2025349537158627733?s=46&t=vSc28c4jRnGy3UkOwCbIQQ
  2. Not defending it, because it was irresponsible at the time. But you do recall how everyone on here jumped at the NY Post for it's sensational headline a few days ago warning of "up to a foot" ... It's a really fine line between hype and communicating risk
  3. Yup. Was just going to say that today is the first day in more than a week that I see signs of some melting in Manhattan. But we desperately need a snowpack whitener. Snow banks getting very nasty.
  4. I think it may be freezing drizzle now in the city
  5. BWI just reported 11.4 inches of smow and sleet
  6. Major streets in Queens are plowed, but still snow covered and icy. I wonder what tomorrow's morning commute is going to look like. If it continues with this sleet until midnight, will salt even work well?
  7. It seems to be back to 60 percent sleet and 40 percent snow in Astoria. Really nasty out.
  8. Sleet has begun in Astoria. Measured 8 inches of snow total on the dot, but that may be a slight under measurement since I think part of patio may be shielded above.
  9. Heaviest rates of the day in Astoria. Streets are a mess. I guess we will flip to sleet soon.
  10. 7 inches in Astoria. One inch in the past hour. Still all snow.
  11. Just measured 6 in Astoria Queens.
  12. It’s going to be incredibly nasty this evening. https://x.com/nwspittsburgh/status/2015447318368075930?s=46&t=vSc28c4jRnGy3UkOwCbIQQ
  13. Just measured 4 inches in Astoria Queens, a few blocks off the East River.

  15. DC was also forecast for 6 to 10 and seems to have busted a bit low. Think that is also a sign the warmth may make it here before we would like in NYC
  16. You think? Don’t you think city will fiip to sleet by 3 pm? That is only 5 more hours.
  17. NYC snow plows are down and I think snow plowing is supposed to begin when 2 inches or more accumulates.
  18. Moderate snow in northwestern Queens. I’d estimate an inch and half so far
  19. Surprised at how heavy the snow is so early in the ciity.
  20. Moderate slow in northwestern Queens. Visibility low. Everything covered, except heavily slated and traveled streets. But even they look they won’t stay wet long.
  21. Heavy salt dust everywhere in Queens. NYC Sanitation laying down massive amounts of salt.
  22. Maybe (and I think NYC only getting 5 to 8). But interesting that even LWX in DC-Baltimore sticking with 6-10 down there. If DC gets 6 to 10, think there would be no way NJ and NYC somehow get less. Basically, all the NWS offices staying aggressive and fairly coordinated. Maybe they all bust. Maybe there is a reason they are all so aggressive. I don't know, but it's almost game time. Maybe the NAM comes back a bit south this afternoon and evening.
  23. Taken from Mid-Atlantic forum. But this looks great, if it were to verify even with a few inches shaved off.
  24. Besides the thermals, I guess I also worry that the storm ends up moving past us even faster than models suggest it will. It seems that often ends up happening, unless its a prolonged overrunning or crawling coastal. There have been plenty of times where we expect storms to last 12 hours but in reality they pass by in about 8 to 10.
