Looks like the pattern continues on the GFS
-
Just an absolute mess anyway you slice it really going to be an inconvenience for most of next week
-
Cant imagine much worse set up, ice on top of a snow pack
-
The GFS is a convoluted mess; does that stuff at hour 84 back in Texas still have to come through?
-
Looks like where I am at is still doing all right, for right now, the trend makes me nervous though.
-
I am up to 17.5 for Saturday, 2.2 for Sunday on wunderground, a little more on weather channel app. Glad they pulled trigger helps people prepare
-
Possible with a deep snowpack

January 2026 Short/Medium Range Thread
Weatheriscool replied to John1122's topic in Tennessee Valley
It appears to my untrained eye that the STJ gets involved the rest of the month into Feb and the trough essentially remains in the east, there could be more systems yet to go -
This is just insanity, I keep thinking one of us on here prayed way too hard for snow!
-
This system would be bad enough if it were going to melt in a couple days but to be around the better part of next week is really really going to be a issue; wonder how much rock salt TDOT has lol?
-
Their snow totals dont seem to match up for my area with other forecasts I have seen
-
Nope
-
Yes, this should be interesting!
-
I do not think I can recall the "heavy snow" wording this far out in the NWS forecast for Nashville. It is a fine line, no one wants to create a run on the grocery stores but yet at the same time, want to get everyone prepared.
-
Yea, mine was updated too, on the high end mine would be just over 2', I think the record for Nashville all time storm system is like 17.7" in March of 1880 something that is how rare this is
-
Yea, I have not seen numbers like that before. Like I said in an earlier post, what concerns me is the weight of all that snow if we get that much, over the next ten days on things.
-
That would create so much infrastructure issues well into the following week. I am sure that tems are well below zero over that snowpack as well
-
So the GFS is good when it shows good things for your area? Or was there a model upgrade and we can expect to follow the GFS from now on? Asking for a friend.
-
OK I take it back. Nashville doesn't appear to be out of it
-
So what is everyone general thoughts on the pattern is this one and done or could we have another system in February?
-
That's crazy that it's still snowing lol
-
Maps?
-
Well that does make sense. I shouldn't get attached to one model run, plenty of eye candy coming up between now and the event!
-
I admire your optimism lol

Looking like this may trend south of us in Nashville area
