  1. With the way technology is now and social media with getting warnings and advisories and stuff like that out, I’m surprised the national weather service hasn’t gone to more of a polygon system with winter weather than still using counties. I understand why you use counties for severe thunderstorm watches, and tornado watches, flood watches… those kinds of things. But there’s multiple counties in East Tennessee that that can have a wide range of winter weather depended upon the location in that county. North of interstate 40 in Knox County just about always has a location advantage over areas south of interstate 40 when we have these 50-50 type systems. In these close call winter systems, my weather in Halls is always closer to the weather in Southern Anderson County, Southern Union County and southern Granger County. .
  2. This scares me more than anything. Just a little bit of ice at the bottom of the mountains. There could be catastrophic tree damage. .
  3. Me in Halls vs Knoxville is like I’m in a totally different county. I will not be surprised if my snow totals are closer to the counties to the north then south of me. .

  5. I have a tankless heater but when I changed out my upright water heater to the tankless, I kept the old water heater and used it as a holding tank. So I pump hot water into the holding tank from my tankless water heaters, and when I need hot water, the circulating pump comes on and pumps the hot water out of the holding tanks. .

  7. You are the man… I forgot about hot water. But I’ve got tankless gas water heaters and I can run them off my vehicle’s converter. The circulating pump pulls the most amps on my tankless system and it’s only about a half to 3/4 of an amp. .
  8. I have 80 pounds of propane a 20,000 BTU vent free propane heater, a DC to AC converter for my jeep and a propane top skillet for cooking in a pan or on a griddle. But Lord, help us if we actually have to use these things for more than a day or so .
  9. You can also get deicer in an aerosol can. I have a couple of them and it’s OK if it gets on your paint of your vehicle. Also, the deicer windshield washer fluid works well and is very handy in the winter at any time. .
  10. I know this is Captain obvious but just reminding everyone to fill up their vehicles, maybe even get a little extra in a can .
  11. I would rather be told what I do not wanna hear then be told maybe it will, maybe it won’t and you’re left with knowing nothing. .
  12. Yeah I’ve got a wheelbarrow with water in it and it’s still frozen. It’s in the shade but a lot of roads are in the shade .

  19. A couple days ago I ordered a whole bunch of canned food, macaroni and cheese stuff like that from Amazon just in case the power did go out. I’ve got a cooktop for propane tanks and a generator that’s big enough to run a microwave. I decided to do that after I had my wife go to the store on Tuesday then I got to thinking we might run out of food because we went to the store too early. The good thing is, we have plenty of frozen stuff to eat in which we can put it outside if needed. .
  20. Mods are probably starting to pick up on downsloping .
  21. lol… you sound like you work for a school system, because I had the same image in my mind. [emoji23] .
  22. Yeah, Monday morning is gonna be pretty bad. Hopefully the cold air in the wind will help dry some of it up, but it’s not gonna get all of it. .
