  1. Gonna be interesting to see which high res mod is closest to what happens. This is the NAM 3K and the VF3, I picked those because they are the closest to my air temperature right now. I threw the HRRR out because it has me with rain and 33 degrees right now. I’m at 27.7 with mod snow. The main reason why I’m curious with these two high res mods is because both of them are pretty close with total precipitation, however the FV3 has me with a little over 3 inches of snow, no sleet and just a little freezing rain by Monday morning. The 3K gives me less than a half inch of snow, half of an inch of sleet and over 1 inch of total QPF of freezing rain. Here’s some screenshots. 3k NAM… .
  2. Here’s my issue with him… I actually think he’s good and he did a good job with this by going with the euro, which is probably gonna be closest and that’s good. However, he acts like he’s never wrong and that’s the issue people take with him and when people challenge him on what he says that’s when he gets mad. People would not challenge him on his forecast if he wouldn’t act like he’s never wrong. .
  3. Pretty wild…. I’ve got 20dbz on top of me with not a flake making it to the ground. .
  4. My buddy from the pics above is a little east of Jackson. FYI…. He sent me a video and the snow was falling like it’s high ratio stuff. Very fine but falling heavy .
  5. The middle finger .

  7. The way this thing has gone for the past week, I have absolutely no reason to believe it’s gonna play out the way the mods say it’s going to. Either it’s gonna snow way more than anybody thinks it’s going to or it’s gonna rain the whole time. .
  8. I posted this yesterday… these are lighting strikes being picked up by the 3K NAM .
  9. My gif didn’t gif .
  10. What really stinks about this system, other than the obvious (lol)…. Is we desperately need rain and there’s a good chance we’re gonna lose out on probably half of it never touching the ground. .
  11. How close have you been to the tornadoes the last several year? .
  12. I have been trying to figure that out myself by assuming a couple inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain. I’m guessing somewhere between 1 inch and 1.25 inches of pure rain. .
  13. This is why I believe parts of N Knox Co might stay frozen longer than other areas. My area is in the pink. .
  14. [emoji817]….. that’s a great point about the rain rates. Some of the worst road conditions I’ve ever been in was freezing fog. .
  15. My question is whats the air temperatures at the surface for the majority of this event? If they’re only about 30 to 32° then I don’t see there being any road issues. elevated surfaces trees, vehicles, house gutters, etc… we’ll have ice on them, but in my opinion with the warmer temperatures the last couple of days, I think the temperature is will need to be (IMO) 28° or below before we start having road issues. .
  16. With the way technology is now and social media with getting warnings and advisories and stuff like that out, I’m surprised the national weather service hasn’t gone to more of a polygon system with winter weather than still using counties. I understand why you use counties for severe thunderstorm watches, and tornado watches, flood watches… those kinds of things. But there’s multiple counties in East Tennessee that that can have a wide range of winter weather depended upon the location in that county. North of interstate 40 in Knox County just about always has a location advantage over areas south of interstate 40 when we have these 50-50 type systems. In these close call winter systems, my weather in Halls is always closer to the weather in Southern Anderson County, Southern Union County and southern Granger County. .
  17. This scares me more than anything. Just a little bit of ice at the bottom of the mountains. There could be catastrophic tree damage. .
  18. Me in Halls vs Knoxville is like I’m in a totally different county. I will not be surprised if my snow totals are closer to the counties to the north then south of me. .
