  1. I was recently hired as a consultant by a national snow and ice management firm. I had been out the industry since 2014. Karma will be real. For you Iowa peeps, excuse my avatar. I did not mean to be offensive.
  2. it's a beautiful thing. Poured with electrification and cracking thunder. Trees barely twitched. My type of storm.
  3. backbuilding. Looks like it is exploding off to my east. Can hear and see the action, just not in it.
  4. ATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHICAGO/ROMEOVILLE, IL 1122 AM CDT SUN AUG 28 2022 UPDATE ISSUED AT 1120 AM CDT SUN AUG 28 2022 MAIN UPDATES THIS MORNING WERE TO DECREASE CLOUD COVER, INCREASE HIGH TEMPERATURES, AND FINE-TUNE PRECIPITATION CHANCES.
  5. cloud cover would be key I would think
  6. yeah. bizarre. on the patio with mainly clear skies and got constant cloud to cloud flashes of lightning at very low levels like a shadow effect from the storms off to my east. May have never experienced that before.
  7. ^ yep. dust bowl fail. In the end, pleasant with just enough moisture to keep things from browning out.
  8. gettin' ready for autumn. Better half returns to the classroom Tuesday. Nice boomers here in the past few hours. Perfect.
  9. Shaded street, two blocks from the lake. Could have been shacked up with the GF on those hot days. She has a pool. So I guess there are caveats.
  10. yup, the boy on LSD said he hasn't turned it on all season.
  11. been awhile since I've had to deal with this kind of heat.
  12. I don't recall anything quite like '95 before or after that summer. Felt ill and drained most of that summer and I was a young man of 34. Could not wait for fall. I'm not a stats guy, simply feel and instincts sports and weather.
  13. One of the most pleasant summer's here I can recall in recent memory. Was concerned about a real scorcher with the early heat in June, but July came in moderate with enough rainfall to keeps us going. Prior to this year the weather in summer has tended to be warm and dry, but nothing extreme by any stretch. Biggest out of whack anomalies I've seen recently, non summer, is the warm non snowy Decembers. Be nice to end that pattern.
  14. Crystal blue skies from the land of sky blue waters. Been awhile since we've had late July, August skies devoid of smoke. Hope it continues.
  15. nope. perfect garden variety showers.
  16. we maybe looking at more than garden variety if it can hold together. Although morning convection usually does weaken as it approaches.
  17. looks like we'll never quite rid ourselves of this high dew airmass as it looked earlier in the week. Not a fan of August gumbo.
  18. been doin it since about 1968. Only difference, it's no longer a NOAA weather radio(which I played on loop for hours) driving everyone crazy, or TWC back in late 80's(people would ask who watches that channel for hours on end?), and now it's source overload due to the internet feeding the addiction. BTW...does that guy on the NOAA weather radio ever age, exact same voice today?
  19. LOT provides the most in depth discussions for benign weather days i've ever seen.
