Welp. Relationship failed in Carroll County so I'm back home in the swamps of AA County sitting at 100' above sea level lol. Pouring here and very swampy. No drought here.

Sorry to hear it, but welcome back.

I know it’s out of region but can anyone take a look at radar in southern Delaware? On vacation around Fenwick and our phones all lit up with tornado warning alarms. I feel out of my element without computer.

shoulda been the same line of storms that rolled through you guys earlier.

    Just cleared out:

picked up a standard glass rain gauge bc i felt my station was under reporting precip

    station = .60

    rain gauge = .80

Good for you! I wish more observers would do this.  Coincidentally,  my numbers this morning are almost identical to yours but opposite. ..0.81 in the Davis, 0.61 in the true gauge. (Has to do with my heavy tree cover here)

Happy to see so many of the dry spots getting their share this time.

  4. Christmas 1969, our family drove from Syracuse NY (30") to home (MD) right through the teeth of it.  My memory is of the amazing whiteouts and near impossible visibility in the Poconos.  A few years later I read an article in I think Popular Mechanics about whiteouts, and I-81 in PA was one of the prime locations

I was pretty young; my (Canadian)  Dad handled all the driving. Long hard trip.

At home it was just our usual rain/snow/ice crap

This is the storm I mentioned in my post. Giants pummeled Denver in the 1987 SB. Washington pummeled them in Jan of 1988 lol.

January 25, 1987 new jersey snow storm

Yes, I used to get confused too... the Redskins won the 87 season in the 88 SB.  But... it was the 87 game (in L.A.) where DC mayor Barry was partying while Washington  struggled through the double snow. Long story.

Interesting how west of 95 has been much warmer than east towards the bay.

Today will be the 10th day we hit 90+ out here, including 7 days in a row last week. Max 94. Might hit 95 today.

Something to do with our local drought I think.

I think you may be right about the "local drought".

Here's the month so far at KNAK; about 7 miles east of me.

68 this morning in Great Falls.  Morning temps have been pleasant all week, despite the increasing heat.

Starting today about 4 or 5f warmer than the past few mornings (69f), I think we might hit 90 for the first time this July.

  8. About 2pm, Drove home from Silver Spring , beltway to rte 50. Bumper temp 88 most of the way. Started dropping at Pax River, (per usual). Down to 76 by the time we reached  our driveway. (12f drop in 6 miles) Rain strong then  weak. 0.02" in the gauge.

Plus one long strong crack of thunder

Thanks Y'all, I've already been to Florida in 2022, so I know the humidity is going to be insane, but since I've never been to DC before, I wanted to know what it is like up there.

Lots of places are hot & humid, but come back in winter for one of our snowstorm threats.  (Make sure you hang out on this forum. )

Then you'll want to change your major from Meteorology to Psychology.

I know there isn't a topic for July and August yet, but I'm going to be in DC in Late July and into Early August, what is the weather like up there? Very Hot and Humid like Oklahoma's Climate?

Not quite as hot, and twice as humid.
