  1. Are we taking the over or under for 90 degrees at central park at some point in September. Climo says its roughly 50/50 but I'd think it'd be harder to achieve outside the first week of the month. That's usually when temps really start dropping.
  2. If I'm not mistaken the perfect recipe for good fall foliage is about average amounts of precip with persistent cooler nights in early fall correct? Hopefully we get good foliage this time around, last year sucked cause of the drought.
  3. Last several summer/winters have been all front loaded. Winter 23-24 died after that one week cold spell in January. The following summer also died in August, with September being almost chilly. This past winter died in mid February as well, with march being a blowtorch.
  4. Now if we could only get the western pacific to stop boiling we might have a 2010s style winter!
  5. So is 22-23 a good analog year? If so coastal mid atl-sne is screwed.
  6. Well that sucks. Nina is pretty much a winter killer if you're south of new england no?
  7. Isn't nina looking less and less likely? Almost looks like a carbon copy of last winter (which was good for mid atlantic but meh for philly-nyc-coastal new england).
  8. Crazy rotten luck last winter for nyc. It's very rare nowadays to get below normal temps and snow.
  9. Yes. Anything to prevent us getting snowfall will indeed occur.
  10. We see triple digit heat mid august I say. The worst of it is NOT over just cause we're having a little break from the extreme heat/humidity first week of august. Many people are jumping the gun on second half of summer.
  11. 1 month from now is the light at the end of the tunnel moment. September can still be damn hot
  12. It wouldn't surprise me if the average low for the city this july is about 76. Crazy
  13. I was speaking for even nyc. 1980-2010 climo had avg lows in the upper 60s even in the dog days. that literally almost never happens now
  14. The death of nights in the 50s and 60s is really tragic. It can still happen (as we’re about to see), but it used to routinely drop below 70 at night.
  15. Hottest period of summer yet to come (mid august). Triple digit heat, dews in the 70s likely.
  16. We're also due for an absolutely miserable august. The last two have been easy. I think mid-late august we roast big time
  17. Late July heat dome, 95+ every day, lows in the upper 70s across the city.
  18. It is very very difficult for nyc to get <70 in mid summer now. I think we scratch 70 but struggle to get below it. First <70 night will come some time deep into august or even early sept.
  19. In urban areas I feel august is way worse. It's been baking for too long and all the concrete retains the heat. Plus the humidity is just as bad as July.
  20. SST anomalies . Obviously the water gets warmer in summer lol
  21. Screaming pac jet from the western pacific heatwave. Nina signature southeast ridge. Time to cancel winter 25-26
