  1. I feel like Liberty Bell this morning just firing of all kinds of individual posts, LOL., but I digress. Now this may come as surprise to some but I'm not a hydrologist, nor do I play one on TV, but here are this mornings screen grabs of the gauge in Middletown, which is up stream from and the one at Gardiner. You can see the Gardiner gauge has dropped more than the one upstream in Middletown so I have to wonder if the dams I mentioned in between them is the reason why.
  2. 4/16/07 I have 5.68" of rain and a note on major flooding through out the region. I know that there was water on NYS 416 for that one. So my records we not as detailed back in 2005 but I did record 14.81" in the first two weeks of October and have noted the following: 10/7-10/8: 8.51" 10/12-10/13: 4.66" 10/14: 1.64"
  3. My area faired better yesterday than 07 too
  4. I don’t have access to my records right now but I believe there were multiple big events that month here in Orange so likely over there too. I’ll check in the morning.
  5. I’m betting I’ll get foiled again tomorrow night anyway, too much moisture around me still this early in the season.
  6. It’s higher here than this morning, you can tell by the fence posts. We’ll see how it looks in the morning.
  7. 7/3/21 low was 58. I did have a low of 50 on 8/3/21 but no 40's.
  8. The last time I saw 40's for a low was on 6/25, hoping that streak ends tomorrow night.
  9. Correct, flow is south to north which many do not realize. Based on the gauge near ORMC it looks to crest soon https://waterdata.usgs.gov/ny/nwis/uv/?site_no=01370520&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060,62614,72020,00062,00010,99904,99905 The gauge at Gardiner is showing a crest today as well https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=okx&gage=grdn6 One thing that I did notice after Irene and Lee was that the Gardiner gauge was below flood stage while much of Orange County was still dealing with flooding for days/weeks afterwards. I always guessed that was due to the dams in Montgomery and Walden but don't know that for sure. So while the crest happens today it'll be interesting to see how long it takes to drop overall. The gauge near ORMC was not there back then.
  10. Thank you. I should've noted that the Wallkill was already a bit higher than normal in that first photo.
  11. Here’s the Boat Launch on the Wallkill near my house. First is a little after 4pm yesterday and the second is a little before 8am this morning.
  12. I might be just a tad too far west for that, fine by me. You guys further east certainly look to get into that though.
  13. Up to 3.82, pouring but not as bad as NJ, there are a number of river gauges that just go straight up at a 90 degree angle, real bad down there
  14. The 23z HRRR finally has me under 2” of accumulated precip, of course 3.60” has already fallen though. 5” looking achievable here.
  15. Do you really think it'll matter? It could be a little experiment/test, with many failing I'm sure.
  16. For Floyd my boys were 6, 3, and 2...I wasn't keeping records then as every day was survival mode. For Lee I have 7.50" from Monday afternoon through Thursday of that week. On 10/8/05 I had 8.51" of rain, I think that there was a tropical connection to that but my records then didn't include some of the details that I add now.
  17. Here's a link to a river gage on the Wallkill near Garnet (Orange Regional Medical Center) https://waterdata.usgs.gov/ny/nwis/uv/?site_no=01370520&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060,62614,72020,00062,00010,99904,99905
