  1. Found out that Hatteras Island, where our house is, is not under the mandatory evacuation so we have that going for us. Worst case scenario we load up my generator next Friday night and bring it down to keep the food and beer cold. They are installing various large portable generators but I believe there will still be rolling blackouts even once they all are online. This afternoon they are slated to announce how big, and long, of a repair it will be.
  2. Luckily we have trip insurance as well. I ran some rough numbers. There's 7,700 customers out and let's say 3,500 of those are rental houses. Using a total guess of an average house cost this time of year of $5,000 for a week if folks miss next week there's lost revenue of $17.5 million in just house fees. So yeah, this could hurt them big time.
  3. Days to weeks, depends on if they have the materials needed available to fix it. Crews will get onsite to look at the details tomorrow evening.
  4. Yeah and I got into that dry slot, 20.0" total. It did have some of the best blizzard conditions I've ever experienced though for a while. My concerns now turn to OBX and that power outage, I'm slated to head down there on 8/5, hopefully they have the materials on hand to get it fixed quick.
  5. Installation still hasn't crossed my mind. Windows closed during the day and open at night during the couple days of heat this week FTW
  6. Props for building it yourself, interesting you went with two sets of legs, I only have the one set of legs in the back of the ones I built years ago now.
  7. Violently agree, stellar weather IMO
  8. I saw some interesting images for us in other threads from the HRRR. I'm not famailr with this model but I did find it and ran some loops, tonight could get interesting if this model has a clue. http://ruc.noaa.gov/hrrr/reflectivity.cgi
  9. And in the past 20 minutes I've seen numbers 4, 5, and 6 and they brought their friends too, very light snow has commenced in Goshen, probably won't last long though.
  10. Still waiting for that 4th flake to fall up this way.
  11. All good points but I really can't complain with the 15" or so solid snowpack from various storms that I have at home. It's been a while since I've had that. The sun was poking out here in Goshen as well but I did count 3 snowflakes about 45 minutes ago
  12. We could be but it's interesting that the latest NAM doesn't have all of the snow that is currently falling to our south. What that means to how the rest of the NAM run acutally plays out tonight remains to be seen.
  13. This winter so far reminds me of 93-94, which was my favorite winter ever. Could this one match or surpass that one for me? Time will tell.
  14. 1.8" this morning and still falling lightly. I guess we all overlooked this little snowfall today. In some years this would be our big storm
  15. That was interesting, they don't expect warnings even here, huh....,
  16. Only -5 here this morning, not as cold as yesterday for me so far, which is fine by me.
  17. It was a reference to a Bruce Springsteen song with the lyrics "57 channels and nothing on"
  18. My low was -10! I didn't expect it to be that low this morning.
  19. Droping like a rock, you should see my guests, this ain't supposed to be amateur hour...,.up to - 4.5 now
