  1. Well 3-6" of snow over 24 hours isn't going to really impact travel around here, that is run of the mill type stuff. Lake effect you can get 3-6" in one hour and severely impacts all travel. Pretty big difference IMO. They talk about it more because it has more of an impact. KBUF I don't think has ever shut down from a synoptic event, only lake effect.
  2. This is crazy Doctors finding lung damage in COVID-19 patients, even those without symptoms https://www.wwltv.com/article/news/health/doctors-finding-lung-damage-in-covid-19-patients-even-those-without-symptoms/289-0f899595-2a48-426f-9c3b-0262be0b9666
  3. I'm rooting hard for the chiefs, Packers got screwed by refs....again. Its like clockwork with Brady teams.
  4. Wallstreetbets reddit and Gamestop. Is that market manipulation? The markets are changing away from fundamentals, that's for sure.
  5. I might head out west to see that actually next month.
  6. I don't see any lake effect for awhile so my winter hype is pretty much over. Still better then last years where we got zero bands going.
  7. Mahomes is too good, but our defense played absolutely pathetic today. Cheering for Chiefs in superbowl. I still hate Tom Brady.
  8. Hopefully Mahomes stubs his toe first play and we win an easy game tonight.
  9. That's a pretty crazy statistic. We're at +6.9 for January. January 2020 was +8.1
  10. long range looks warmer last few runs, think we do get a few cutters.
  11. Actually no cutters, just no real threat for the next week or so. 7-15 days looks promising. As wolf mentioned lots of miller bs.
  12. The low gets shredded. Talking 1-3" max around our area. The next storm goes too far south. Then we get a parade of cutters. Doesn't look too good, but still some hope in the long range.
  13. That map is a little off only includes years 1996-2003. Perrysburg/South Dayton/Chautuaqua ridge averages over 200 per year. Springville/Boston/Holland/Colden hills all average right around 180-200 per. The secondary snowbelts of Eden/East Aurora/southern orchard park hills are probably around 140-160 per. Hamburg is 105-125" per depending on what part.
  14. 16" at base, 50" at summit. Just ideal conditions their today. Check out the cams, place is slammed. https://www.holidayvalley.com/explore/webcams/
  15. Give me the rates all day. It's been snowing all day at Holiday valley. Ski country has been getting slammed all week. Really need to head down there soon.
  16. Totals: https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&product=PNS&issuedby=BUF
  17. If you guys want to see some of the highest snow depths in the Northeast, follow the adirondack 46 summit page on facebook. Just crazy pictures from this week up there. One guy has picture with snow up to his neck.
  18. They're missing 40-50" in the adirondacks peaks. There are some depths above waistlines up there.
  19. Really goes to show you that you need cold air to get the goods. NW flow events are common in arctic regimes. We haven't had too many of those the last few years and maybe going forward with global warming. Events like yesterday with low QPF can result in high totals with higher ratios.
  20. The city of Buffalo and Northtowns are the only place in pretty much all of NYS with no snow on the ground.
  21. There we go tug, how was your first real LES event?
