  1. He was playing the best hockey of his career before covid. I still blame the Sabres being so bad on so many players getting covid and all the injuries. We really need to sign Ullmark, hes fantastic.
  2. I mean unless you're more in shape than this guy is...? This guy is a workout warrior and got slammed by covid. I'll take the vaccine over getting sick like this. https://www.is.fi/nhl/art-2000007814144.html Ristolainen has been suffering from a bad case of COVID-19 - Says he has gone through every possible symptom. He has asked around the league and no one else has had it this bad. - His oxygen levels had dropped significantly and doing anything at all made him extremely tired -After a couple of days his symptoms got better only to come back in a different form, chest pains for an example. -When he had his chest pains, he felt like his heart is going to rip in two when walking up the stairs. Says couple of nights he felt like he wasn't sure if he's going to wake up. -"I got healthy papers from the doctors but physically I am in such a bad shape that i have a long road ahead of me until I'm fit to play." (Despite this he also says that he can maybe see himself coming back some time next week, but not certain) He sarcastically remarks that of course if he's going to get it, he'd get it when he's playing the best hockey of his career.
  3. The same can be said for driving. I don't get your point? The vaccine isn't going to cause anyone from getting anything other then a headache for a few days. In terms of risk/benefit analysis its a no brainer.
  4. Most have been young people https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/older-americans-largely-vaccinated-covid-19-cases-younger/story?id=76777363
  5. Are any vaccines 100% safe? Every time you drive your car out of the driveway you're at the greatest daily risk you'll get until you're elderly.

  7. Pretty huge news this morning. Pfizer 91% effectiveness vs south african variant. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/pfizer-says-trials-suggest-covid-vaccine-works-against-south-african-n1262710
  8. Pfizer just released that their vaccine is 91% effective vs south african variant which was once thought to be much lower. It looks like the vaccines really do well vs every variant so far. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/pfizer-says-trials-suggest-covid-vaccine-works-against-south-african-n1262710
  9. Thats despite all the medical advancements we've made in the last 100 years. Can you imagine what the death toll would be with the same virus back in the early 19th century?
  10. I feel like that metric is the only real one we can go by in terms of overall covid impact. What is the excess death since covid started for the entire globe? Are those statistics even available? Worldometers has us at 2.8 million globally. I was thinking the real death toll is 4-5 million so far? This would put us at by far the worst pandemic in a century
  11. Welcome to the worst month of the year around here. Hopefully we can get some 60s and sun for the majority of it.
  12. The vaccine definitely works Nursing homes see 96 percent drop in COVID-19 cases with vaccine https://cbs6albany.com/news/coronavirus/nursing-homes-see-96-percent-drop-in-covid-19-cases-with-vaccine

  14. My mom has advanced stage 4 cancer and she just got her second shot of Pfizer today, they approved it a few weeks ago for all cancer patients.

  16. Looks like we're getting another top 10 warmest month on record. I think we get one nearly every other month.
  17. We really wanted this thing to merge with the trough instead of get shunted off to the east
  18. A high of 30 tomorrow on April 1st, quite remarkable.
  19. That is not the case for all the variants discovered so far, and who is to say they don't evolve further away from the original covid-19 variant. I believe Pfizer and Moderna only have 35-40% efficacy vs the south african variant. The quicker everyone gets vaccinated the quicker this thing is over. If the virus has no host to spread to its impossible to mutate. https://www.webmd.com/vaccines/covid-19-vaccine/news/20210309/s-african-variant-challenges-pfizer-moderna-vaccines The key finding: The percentage of positive antibodies that neutralized the South African variant was 12.4 fold lower for the Moderna vaccine than against the original coronavirus and 10.3 fold lower for the Pfizer vaccine, the study says.
  20. The problem with this thinking is that if everyone felt that way, as I am also similar to you. I have gone to gym 5 days a week for 7 years and play sports every weekend is that we won't reach herd immunity and the variants can cause major problems. We are in a time crunch with variants vs vaccinations currently. The variants are more transmissible and more deadly based on recent studies. If they mutate quick enough and evolve enough to counteract the vaccines, we're right back at square one. People who don't get vaccinated will be the cause of another outbreak.
  21. Buffalo at +6.1 for March...One thing is for sure you can almost guarantee above normal temps every month for years to come.
  22. We have to prepare ourselves for next season. Nothing is locked until 24 hours and even with some nowcasting events. They've struggled with miller a, bs, fronts, clippers, lake effect, they've sucked with everything this winter.
  23. They are so bad lol 300 mile shift within a few days
