Upstate NY Banter and General Discussion..
BuffaloWeather replied to wolfie09's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
I am not well versed over there, but I know 2 close friends/family members that are ruined for life due to that war and all for nothing. Trump paraded about bringing home the troops for years so it would have eventually led to the same result? I doubt a peace treaty was only with trump and not with the United States. Does the treaty break due to him not winning reelection? -

Yeah I don't know the correct method of solving the middle east issue. I'd say the majority of those living there do not want the Taliban in power. My friends who toured over there all said the Afghan people all hugged them when they came to their cities. It's a sad situation, especially for women. I'd rather be dead than a women over there right now. -

What happens over there should stay over there. Cut off all travel on flights that connect to the middle east and ban all passengers from that country from international travel. -

Yeah I'm not a fan of wars, they don't really accomplish anything at all. Being the world's policemen is literally impossible. We have enough to worry about over here. -

There has to be something wrong there. The afghan army just gave up, maybe they agree with the tailban? They didn't even fight. With the amount of gear the US gave them they should have easily held against the Taliban. Maybe everyone is just sick and tired of all the fighting for the last 2 decades. -

Well all the trump supporters wanted our troops to come home, Biden agreed and look what happens. It's a bipartisan issue, both are blaming the other side as usual. Did you see what the taliban has now? 100+ humvees, tanks, enough weapons and ammo for decades of fighting. They interviewed a few leaders over there already and want Islamic law worldwide, but they are "patient". 9/11 take two is a matter of when not if. -

20 years of training the afghan military, thousands of deaths, trillions of taxpayer dollars, and was overtaken within a week. My brother in law did 3 tours there and his best friend is medically retired at 24 due to that war, all for nothing. They are both messed up for life. -

Kind of cool how they put the snow level in the forecast. Wasn't planning on bringing my winter coat but with winds and temps in 40s I may have to. Thursday Night A chance of rain showers before 3am, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Snow level 13700 feet lowering to 8300 feet after midnight . Partly cloudy, with a low around 35. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Friday A chance of rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Snow level 8000 feet rising to 13600 feet in the afternoon. Partly sunny, with a high near 63. Friday Night A slight chance of rain and snow showers. Snow level 13100 feet lowering to 8300 feet after midnight . Partly cloudy, with a low around 36. Saturday A slight chance of rain and snow showers. Snow level 8200 feet rising to 14300 feet in the afternoon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Breezy. -

We hiked this one in October of last year. It was 70-75 and sunny at base camp, got to the top and complete whiteout blizzard. Was a little over 10k feet at top. This was at the top with 60-70 mph winds -

It really is mind blowing. I have a PA critical care nurse in Atlanta and is going through the same thing. Their hospitals are slammed and she is so drained. -

I'll put an end to this argument. You can only use data from 2010 and 2020 as the census is done every 10 years. The years in between are all estimates. Monroe County and the Rochester metropolitan area both lost population over the past decade, according to data released Tuesday by the U.S. Census Bureau. The Rochester metropolitan area, which includes the city, Monroe County, and several neighboring counties, fell 1.1 percent to 1,067,486 in 2020 from 1,079,671 in 2010, according to census figures. Similarly, the 2020 count marks the first time the metropolitan area population fell. It had grown every year between 1900 and 2010. Rural counties, such as Genesee, Orleans, Wayne, and Livingston, all lost population between 2010 and 2020. The only county in Rochester’s metro to gain population was Ontario, which rose 2 percent to 110,091. https://www.wxxinews.org/post/census-shows-population-fell-monroe-county-metro-area#:~:text=Monroe County's population fell by,2020 from 744%2C344 in 2010. -

My wifes vegan and can't even go to the animal part of the fair because they're treated so "bad". If only she knew how brutal nature is. -

I wish there were less people. The roads are so crowded compared to when I first moved here. I swear 50% of that population increase is in Hamburg. They've been building nonstop in any possible vacant land for the last 10 years straight. -

I knew the roads have been getting busier but did not expect that big of an increase. The traffic in Hamburg is insane lately. From April 1, 2010, to April 1, 2020, the population in Erie County increased by 35,196 people, from a total of 919,040 people in 2010 to 954,236 in 2020. The news is even better for adults. According to the new data, the population in Erie County of people 18 and older increased by 42,024, a 5.8% change from 10 years ago. In addition, the population in the City of Buffalo grew by 6.5% in the last ten years. Increasing from 261,310 people in 2010 to 278,349 in 2020, according to the new U.S. Census data. Erie County is the only county in the Western New York area with a total population increase in the last ten years. Niagara and Genesee counties, however, did see small increases in people 18 and over, but the total population in those counties is down from 10 years ago. https://www.wgrz.com/article/news/local/erie-county-population-grew-for-first-time-in-decades/71-84df3983-72c5-4fce-b804-2c727219ea37?fbclid=IwAR1uBe25EznKzBgjCX6Km_cgxqMTrStRgBoCV8Z1cPn6kpiJqx-iyEXMxHo -

I'm starting to think Delta is a more dangerous variant, any data on it? A client just came in and said his doctor said his entire office is sick with severe flu like symptoms. I thought Delta was more contagious and less deadly? Our area doesn't enter flu season for a few months. I think we're going to see a dramatic increase in cases this winter.
