  1. DeSantis said its only because of illegals crossing the border unvaccinated.
  2. Kathy Hochul replaces him temporarily. Shes a Hamburg resident, used to be moderate now leans left.
  3. Winter analogs very early from ohweather So this year I'm playing with cool ENSO - moderate La Ninas, and looking (if possible) for ones with an easterly QBO, a negative IOD and a warm west Pac. Also, the lower frequency forcing this summer so far has been most favored over the western Pacific. It's an interesting set of analogs, with years like 74-75, 00-01, 05-06, 12-13 and 17-18 showing up in there, but also a disaster like 11-12 hitting many of those too.
  4. Looks like some rain and cooler temps cleared out a lot of the smoke in glacier national park! I leave next Weds.
  5. Yep the goal post keep getting moved. I have to wonder what the cdc goal/objective is in changing the rules as they go along. Will they eventually go to zero case strategy? The positivity rate is like 1% in Erie county and they’re going back to the rules of when we had rampant spread and no vaccines…it’s all political garbage at this point.
  6. Takes my night walks to a new level, just fantastic humidity
  7. I disagree the CDC requirements are hyper sensitive insanity.
  8. I officially hate the CDC. I wish Trump would come back and say you're fired to them.
  9. If only I could work from home. My wife does and loves it. Maybe I need to start job searching. Trying to get next role in management before I leave.
  10. I personally hate wearing a mask so much...We have over 20k employees, so this effects quite a few people on the east side of the country.
  11. Well starting the 11th my work is back to wearing masks full time. We have over 20k employees. Substantial/high risk according to this map have to wear mask. Was fun while it lasted. https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#datatracker-home
  12. How is erie county substantial covid risk? Our transmission level is like 1%?? This is link my work shared https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#datatracker-home
  13. Just got this email from work...Beginning this Wednesday, August 11, if the county you work in is in a substantial or high transmission area, colleagues should wear masks regardless of vaccination status.
  14. New research out of ICL has found fully vaccinated individuals are 3x LESS likely to test positive for SARS-CoV-2 than unvaccinated individuals AND are LESS likely to pass the virus on to others, due to having a smaller viral load on average and therefore shedding LESS virus.
  15. Got central A/C this summer, best decision I ever made.
  16. I wonder if the smoke from the fires out west are keeping us from getting into the 90s
  17. I've been checking the webcams up in glacier. It seems some places are clear and others pretty smokey. This is an every summer thing now adays out west so tough to beat it. https://www.nps.gov/glac/learn/photosmultimedia/webcams.htm The Tetons look pretty clear https://www.nps.gov/subjects/air/webcams.htm?site=grte
  18. Heading out west to Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana Aug 18-28. Anyone know what the smoke will look like when I am there or too early?
  19. My mom has advanced stage 4 cancer and I go with her to Roswell cancer center every week. They recommended her to receive the vaccine while she was undergoing pretty severe immunotherapy treatment. Chemotherapy and radiation did not work last year. Keytruda immunotherapy has worked and shrunk the tumor near her brain by 75%.
  20. The west needs the rain, east is fine. https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/
