  1. Every forum has to have their warm lover. Me and @Syrmax have volunteered to play our part. Sizzlemas was awesome.
  2. The GFS would turn our winter around in a hurry. It features a 20" snowstorm for all and then an epic LES event east/northesat of the lakes.
  3. That SE ridge looks to be there all winter. Its typical in Ninas, but not that stout. Its definitely acting like a La Nina and a strong one at that.
  4. @SouthBuffaloSteve Now might be a good time to call out KBUF on its higher than normal readings with all the data you've accumulated. 2020 in Rochester doesn't even make the top 10, but its Buffalos 2nd warmest on record. One of the 2 stations is reading incorrect. Watertown is kind of middle of the road with temps with both 2020 and 2021 showing up.
  5. With all that said I still think January is going to be rockin!
  6. Buf NWS just posted this. Looks like 5 of the warmest all time years will have come since 2006.
  7. Just a matter of time before the snow averages come down. I think it impacts us less off Erie as our lake freezes, Ontario provides it all winter. Without consistent LES all winter its tough to get the averages that we get here in NYS. The last 30 year average didn't do that but I expect the next one to be the lowest of the bunch. Sorry to be the debbie downer on Christmas. Was just doing some climate research with some extra time

  9. We look to have a bottom 5 total snowfall December, you can see how those other seasons finished. You can't really look at anything pre 1940 though. https://www.weather.gov/buf/BUF_top10 https://www.weather.gov/buf/BuffaloSnow
  10. Looks pretty boring weather wise the next 4-5 days. Will probably create a new thread later this week.
  11. My Facebook memories of last few Christmases. 2021 joins 2019 as a warm one. 2020, 2019, and 2017.
  12. Mine definitely did. I noticed it on our walk yesterday, we also have some flowers coming up.
  13. Just broke 50 degrees here at 1:14 am, incredible stuff. Going for a run in the morning.
  14. Definitely a warm next week, will only drop below 32 1-2 nights. Impressive for late December.
  15. 12z ENS say Merry Christmas. About the best Long Range ENS suite I've seen so far this winter
  16. Happy holidays all! May santa bring us all a better Pacific.
  17. Just saying it's not the best pattern, but its definitely workable. Looks like a front end thump for most areas tonight?
  18. The GFS is showing -43 degree temps just north of the border after new years. The years that worry me are the ones where Canada is on fire. We have a source of cold air directly to our north, just need a mechanism to get it over here.
  19. Remember that crazy heatwave across western canada in summer? It broke all time record highs across the country. Well they are now smashing some record low records too. Talk about 2 extremes in the same year.
  20. The EPS show a good pattern developing around new year. Its still possible the SE ridge flexes its muscle in mid january but right now the first week of January "should" be quite wintry. You can expect temps to be 1-2 degrees below normal on average.
  21. We should be in the battleground zone Let's not forget temps in this timerange average in low 30s for highs and low 20s/high teens for lows.
