  4. under a warning until 9 pm for 60 mph radar-indicated winds. it's gusty and thundering at the moment.
  5. high of 92 and it looks like we're about to get some rain. currently 87/64.
  6. the June moon is the "strawberry moon".
  7. i did too. i love them but think of them as part of the 2nd half of summer, with the katydids and the rest of the summer racket makers. i mean the fireflies just started in earnest this week. lol. and i think you’re right that they’ll be early this year. i guess the ground has warmed up early this year. currently 93/67 with a low of 67.
  8. there is one annual cicada in the backyard who has arisen from the earth and is singing his little heart out. he’s going to be lonely as it’s at least another month before the rest of them will emerge. today was the hottest day so far, with a high of 94.
  9. it's the 8th anniversary of when I took this photo from my back deck, lol.
  10. beautiful outside right now. 85/62.
  11. it's gotten really humid over the last few hours and thunderstorms have popped all around me. the sunset reflecting off the storm clouds looks like a painting.
  12. install Adbock for Safari on your phone.
  13. thunderstorm in progress
  14. 86/67 with a thunderstorm on the doorstep.
  15. we had a shower earlier and now it's thundering, but that's it so far.
  16. we drove back from Ohio yesterday and the traffic was heavy the entire time. there were multiple accidents and some construction, and at one point Waze routed us through Pittsburgh itself, where we saw a bunch of the city’s bridges. on the other hand, a different detour landed us in an Amish town, complete with horses and buggies. the experience was worth every inconvenience. i still can’t believe what i saw fewer than 48 hours ago.
  17. yes—the same place i saw it. really cool—great photo.
  18. truth. the air cooling, the bird chorus, the silence as the color and then the light drain away as totality approaches—that can’t be photographed.
  19. crappy phone picture does not do it justice. the sun had a black hole in the middle of it, and it was surrounded by white flames, with a red ball of fire on the bottom. and that was after the light quickly drained away leaving the aftertaste of dread. so incredible.
  20. about 15 min to totality here. it's cooler, dimmer, and the birds are singing. we have high clouds but i'm still hoping to see the corona at totality.
  21. clouds coming back, but the sun is still visible.
