    I'm not on the electric cars will save our planet train because as of today the damage is not much different than ICE vehicles. Mass public transportation, trains would actually be far more effective.

    Steering pattern does look favorable for tropical threats later this month and into September. Western Atlantic SSTs are near record highs again

    I mean this heat is completely useless and everyone's in an AC building anyway The only thing good about the heat is that sometimes we get storms but we can't even get that.

    It's funny how every year after August 10 is when I hear the first, "the days are getting shorter" statements. It's the inverse in early Feb.

    I wonder how we're doing overall on the hottest and/or driest summer list. Gotta be way up there. Maybe we'll be in the top 3 by end of August for met summer (June-August)

    I'm gonna say no. There's plenty of evidence to suggest more strong heat after a mild down Maybe it won't feel as intense since the sun won't be as strong

    This weather stinks unless you own a pool. Can't sit outside without getting eaten alive either. Darn climate change. At least summers of the past had some pleasant days mixed in.

    With western Atlantic SSTs approaching record highs again and 75+ dews it's only a matter of time before the soakers come. And then things will ramp up further as tropics activate

    That could be encouraging for rain chances then.

    Chances are the season will end up above normal and things will ramp up as they normally do after the 20th. It's also highly doubtful the trough stays in New England. Ensembles already showing WAR moving westward after the 15th with higher heights over Se Canada and New England.

    I don't know how much longer we can escape the downpours. It's not uncommon to see 1-3" in under an hour this time of year.

    It'll be hot but nothing historic. It was hotter in mid July. 100F will be rare this time around.

    I think we'll see more rain moving forward. Droughts here don't last very long. Also apex of heat likely this Thursday. Ridge pulls back west a few days later. 100+ temps become very tough to do after mid August. Believe it or not the sun angle does start to matter eventually

    I usually wait till August 20th before declaring anything. If the environment still looks as hostile by that time then we have to look at 2013 more closely. However there always seem to be a switch in the last third of August that flips everything. We've seen this even in the most hostile precursor patterns.

    Anything over a quarter inch would be nice. Gfs does suggest we'll see more warm/humid & wetter conditions after the next 95-100F potential.
