Yeah. It reminds me of being in a temperate rain forests (Glacier Bay NP and Olympic NP). I know I am going to enjoy the sun.

Yeah that SB storm was only heavy in the hills of Oakland but most place 2-5" I lived near Alpine Valley and parts of Oakland had a bit over 6". After an incredible Dec start to winter that SB storm ended up being my biggest storm of that winter. Oh I remember that 2015 storm being near a foot+ all over. I was happy knowing you finally got your big one. That February was awesome!!
-
It was SB day. Got several up this way with the SB2006 but most places only got a couple/few inches.

Good Plan!!

Opps HAHAHA . You are totally right. Totally my bad. Sorry Cromatie!! I will gladly admit my mistake!!

Hmmm lets check Cromartie's math. Average high 2/1 is 32. 55-32 = 13. Average high 8/1 is 84. 84-13 = 71. Go away Cromartie EDIT: I admit. I am an idiot 55-32 = 23. Average high 8/1 is 84. 84-23 = 61.

Yes they should be good games. Packers finally playing like the Packers again. Honest expect us to split our games again next year. Agree about those other games

Amazing season. Yes that sucked but IMO I think KS would destroy our secondary in the SB (not the same KS team of week 1). I think 49er are better built to stop them. For me, this will only hurt if Detroit collapses going forward and doesn't grow from it which I don't see that happening. Players actually want to come to Detroit (don't think I could ever say that in all my years)!! Our OC is staying (could have been a HC). I know there are no guarantees in the NFL but I believe there are actual good signs going forward. That my 10 cents about the whole thing

Did as much as I could this evening in the winter wonderland. Walked dog (in the woods and out on the frozen lake), made snowmen, snowball fight and shoveled & snowblowed the driveway.

Yeah my family says over 5" at my house. Stuck at work right now. It has been a great month for snow IMBY. What a difference between Flint and MBY for precip. I am over 4" of precip this month and Flint is just approaching 3" today.

I used to live around 24 / Van Dyke area. I have Stoney Creek memorized as I used to go there almost every day roller blading or mtn biking. You have gone the opposite direction I keep moving west and you east

Yeah and Monday would be a complete thread the needle As crazy as it may sound I am actually not doing bad for snowfall this year. Like last year the warmth keeps knocking it out of existence. I think we could be in for a fun time ahead too!! Keep it stormy; add some cold and fun happens -

If it makes it there. Last few winters the MJO crashes and burns to the COD before entering the favorable phases. Trust me I know in 2-3 days this chart will likely look different and this be a mute point (the models are not great at all past day 5). Just a bit discouraging as originally expectation was it would just move right on through in which this warmth was only going to be a week to maybe 10 days. I knew I would lose all the current snow (just like most winters) but was hoping to head back a bit quicker to a snowier pattern. Oh well, nothing I can to do fix it -
Just using the DTX chart. I have been through 10 of the snowiest winters and 5 of the least snowiest winters in years in SE MI: As a note: None of my 5 years at MTU are on this chart and they were all snowier than Detroit's snowiest.

If only it would stall like this in the cold phases instead of warm. -
January 22-23 Potential Ice Event
Lightning replied to HillsdaleMIWeather's topic in Lakes/Ohio Valley
Backroads were just horrible this morning. Main roads OK of course. Lots of sleet and freezing rain prior to 1PM and then temp rose to a steady 32.7F all afternoon and all night on my station. Melting has been really slow and mainly off the trees & roofs but not the roads. The snow pack is a very thick and glacier like 6" right now.
