DC about to score better snow then the northern Philly burbs again this winter, and with a PA runner no less. Feeling a melt coming soon if I lose out on this one. It's almost got the taste of those really cold 3-7" January's in the 80's that were followed by mild blah February's. The long rangers are painting next month as ugly...

NWS forecast for a chance of snow after 1pm Sunday is giving a clue. These often start faster than projected and with less virga, we may get snow in here before dark Sunday. Thinking snow on Sunday from 3pm-9pm with obviously earlier changeover the further SE you go.

We should get a 3rd significant winter storm during the last week of January which would make it a good winter month.

Two bad trends 1) the main shortwave slowed which allowed the arctic high to retreat just enough 2) stronger northern shortwave assists pulling it north. You win some and you lose most that's why we don't average 80" snow. I better not finish with 3.2" snow in a January that is seven degrees below normal.. yeah not happening .
