Raleigh NWS has the chance of precipitation tomorrow and tomorrow night in Greensboro at 50%. That's kind of astounding.
They have Greensboro and Winston-Salem both with 1 inch of snow in the forecast. I'd take the over on that one all day long
Even when throwing out the highest outliers, the SREF plums for GSO doubled from 2” to 4” from the 9z to 15z. If GSO gets blanked tomorrow, what will that say about the models?

It’s quite in the SE forum. Either everyone has given up or they’re out getting milk and bread.

12z GFS is running.

What? Do you have a problem with the sky or clouds healing?

I can’t believe sun angle hasn’t been mentioned once. You SE crew are a more upstanding group than us degenerates in MA.
Sun? With all the rain we’ve had, we completely forgot about that thing.
I’ll take half of what the 00z NAM is giving me after this poop of a winter. I missed Van Denton’s 10:00 PM forecast. I’ll be interested in what he has to say for the Triad.

At 45, looks like it’s a I-40 special. Huge difference over 18z IMBY.

I’m liking what I’m seeing in this run. Already more accumulation at 42 compared to 18z.
Edit: Are we seeing the northern trend?

My call for Greensboro:
<1" 25%
1-3" 50%
4"+ 25%
The latest GFS has given me hope, but I’m still not quite as optimistic. I’d go with <1” at 40%, 1-3” at 50%, and >3” at 10%.

The Mid Atlantic forum now has a thread for this week’s event. They’re whistling for this dog to come northward.

They updated them at 3:30PM this afternoon. Check their FB or twitter.
It’s annoying how RAH will tweet updated maps LONG before updating their own website. I miss the old internet before the constant catering to social media users.

Can anyone remember a really crazy snowfall gradient, within one county, in the Piedmont/Triad area?
Looking at the latest NAM maps, if to verify, would be some wild cutoffs somewhere near Forsyth or Guilford county...
We could see both a mulch dusting and three inches of snow within the same zip code. I’m one mile south of the Guilford/Rockingham line. I’ll be lucky to see dusting.

Very sharp cutoff on the 12k NAM... Lynchburg 1" , Danville 5", Raleigh , 12"+
The cutoff is even worse on the hi-res.

When does the northern trend start? But seriously, I need to see some guidance agreement before I’m buying.

A more reasonable, way-to-early forecast would be closer to an inch on grassy and elevated surfaces along and southeast of the I-95 corridor with a half inch or so measured up to about the Triangle region.
* too
They must not require English at State. But seriously, I’m not going to be too optimistic about this system IMBY. This is a hail Mary at this point and we know the odds of those working out.

Plant some Rice.. I did a few years back, (Carolina Gold Heirloom rice),, Down here in ILM,, Was quite successful..
Things are coming along great here in our northern Guilford rice paddies. Perfect timing before the early foot traffic hits the farmers’ market.
But, seriously, this is becoming absurd. We should be able to bank all this water for when we’ll really need it in August.

Look, folks. More rain on the way. This is getting ridiculous. My lawn is like a bog garden at this point.

What have we learned about D10 storms...
I don’t know about you, but I’m right at 40” of D10 fantasy snow. This winter has rocked on paper.

Right at 1” of rain during this latest round and 59 degrees. Apparently, it’s another winter day in the western highlands of Scotland.

My winter 2020-2021 outlook: bitter cold, below-average temperatures and bone dry from Thanksgiving to St. Patrick’s Day. In other words, the exact opposite of 2019-2020.

Don’t forget that just because five inches fall doesn’t mean that five inches stick. I’m going with 1.5” measurable snow around GSO, 2.5” around RDU, and 0.5” around CLT.
